Meets In Michigan??
I just moved up from Kansas before the begining of the year and also just bought an 8 a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if very many meets go on in Michigan or not. I've seen a lot for the surrounding states n such but none for Michigan.

Hey guys, what do you guys think about having a meet at a racetrack? Myself and a few other guys I work with are putting on an open track Day at Grattan Raceway. We are not RX8 owners, just fans of the RX8. But, I think it would be great to have soome of you guys out there. This is the second year we are putting on this very easy going, low cost event. It will mostly be filled with modified street cars, and just the occasional track car. So if you think it's something your interested in, we'd love to have you!
Anyway, here's the details, and here's the link to the registration website -> http://events.kzoorice.com/ more info is on the site, and a list of the registered cars is up on the site under register.
Date: Thursday May 11th.
Cost: $125 per person to drive
If you wanted to just show up and watch there's no cost for that...
Track is open from 9:00 to 5:00.
Drivers meeting at 8:30 to go over rules and safety items.
Every 15 minutes a new group of cars will go onto the track. There will be 4 groups with ~10 cars in each group.
Passengers are allowed, but they need helmets (of course)
I want to stress that this track day is very flexible, so if someone is in a group that is too fast, or too slow for their comfort, they can switch to another group without an issue. The limit on the track is 15 cars, so we are starting with 10 per group to allow for this flexibility.
Also, there's a group of us camping out at the track the night before for a pre track day party. It should be a good meet and greet, and lead up to a great Track day the following morning!

Its so beautiful out and all of us Michigan people are just sitt'n 'round. All this week that I've been out I see a lot of WRX's at Buffalo Wild Wings in Novi, and some other cars and bikes all chill'n in the lot. We need to get off of our lazy A$$'s and get something together sometime.

All of the car plants on the weekends have their lots open and tracks are set up to be run. The ones I have been to so far are held by the Corvette Club and they set up a track at the Chrysler plant, and anyone can run. The next event that they are having will be on May 21st and it goes from 9a-4p. Its $20 for 4 runs on the track. Also the Chevy plant have racing that goes on at the Proving Grounds near Milford and I havent made it out there yet but a friend of mine is always runing his WRX out there.

Do you need any special gear for these races ( ie. helmuts, tape to cover headlights ect).
I always wanted to try auto X but I never knew where to go. Can you email me more details?
Thanks.
