Wish I was still in KC...

I think I am one of about three RX8 owners down here in Wichita...so if you don't mind I want to post on the KC thread. I have had my Silver 05 RX* since April 15th. 6 Speed, Moonroof and black leather. I love the car but hate the fact that Kansas is so flat and straight!

I noticed several of you have stated that you use the K&N products. What performance improvements are you seeing?

Also, I was at Heartland Park Topeka May 26th and it looks like June 14th you can take your car around the road track that night. I believe you need to have the protective gear - helmet and possibly gloves. Have any of you taken your 8 out on the track yet?

Hello. Yes, Heartland Park has Road Warriors on select Wed Nights. You get 15min sessions on the track until the sun sets. I have yet to go but plan to before it ends.

Question good dealers for working on RX8 in kc?

Probably will become an owner this week, got a couple of used cars on the hook and making the final decision. Anyone have a preferred dealer in kc? Looking for one that I can trust to do good work on the 8. I guess any bad experiences is just as important... Has anyone used the guys in the shop at the Stateline and 135th location?

Thanks!

I have been to Tumminia (then Sunflower) Mazda for 2 would be purchases (my old Mazdaspeed Protege and then RX-8) and was not treated very well. So I did not purchase from them. Though, they have done warranty on the Protege until the turbo stopped working then they showed their colors.

I bought my 8 from Bob Sight off 135 (or MO-150) and Stateline. Michael Spillners (sp?) was who I dealt with. So far I have had one dealer visit and it was good. Will be taking back due to foggy tail light.

I too had a bad experience with Tumminia (then Sunflower) Mazda. The car I was supposed to buy turned up missing and they could'nt get me any answers. I bought my car from Independence mazda but that is a long drive from Olathe, so now i go to Bob Sight. Bob Sight Mazda is great to deal with, with great service and they keep u informed. Ask for Lloyd in the service department. He is truly dedicated to good customer service.

Yes, welcome. We could use more KC owners.

I purchased mine from Sunflower (now Tuminia). I recently went back for the recall. And I noted their general niceness, but they didn't bend over backwards as MNOA suggested in their recall notices. So yes, I'm inclined to think their service isn't top notch.

On the K&N thought earlier...

I have the Cold Air Intake from K&N. I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that it isn't really worth the $250 I paid for it. You have to think you will get your money back in the long term.

Perhaps the car does run better. But it is not easily noticeable.

I have been considering a bra for it. But so far I haven't talked myself into it yet.

By bra, I hope you mean the clear bra?

So far for intakes, the stock setup seems to be best. You can get a k&n drop in or green filters panel filter, with a RAM kit and you are set to go. Most others don't add any benefit besides sound and looks.

With that said, yes I would like a 2nd gen k&n typhoon for looks :P

There is no doubt that with the K&N intake, the car definitely has more of a growl than before. You definitely notice it when you step on the gas. When cruising, its about the same as a normal RX8.

Clear bra? I had never heard of a clear version before. I have only ever heard of black items. Hmmm. I'll go out and check Mazdaspeed to see what one might look like.

Clear items tend to yellow with age. Do you know of folks tend to buy a new one every few years?

When I say clear bra, I meant paint protection film. It is a clear masc that can be applied to the front bumper, hood, mirrors, anything, that seals and protects the paint. www.pdiauto.com is local and what I recommend and they also do exotics in case your wondering about their job performance. They use http://www.ventureshield.com/ to complete the work.

Though, that isn't something your probably looking for as I misunderstood you. It's also a bit expensive.

I've looked around.

I see that many clear bra products claim to not yellow. And you don't take it off like you would a normal nose mask type bra.

Does anyone know of a place in KC that would put on a clear bra?

www.pdiauto.com. They installed my tint and did a good job. They also do clear bra installs. I have heard very good about them. They also install on exotic cars as well, so if those guys are picky then it must be a good thing if they go to PDI.

As for the black leather bra, IMO, it takes away from the look of the car.

PDI web page isn't much help for me.

The contact info is almost non existent. I don't suppose you have more complete contact information?

Do you know how long they have been in business?

If you are using FireFox to visit their webpage it is not fully configured. It is best to use IE.

Thanks to both of you. I appreciate the leads.

I use Firefox. No IE is available. Perhaps they will get their site fixed.

I can ask the then manager Larry, who is now at Bob Sight Mazda, what happened to both SC RX8's. I think the cars secretly imploded upon themselves.
