IL - Front Liscense Plate

I was wondering if any of the Illinois people have the front liscense plate or have had trouble not having it. I picked up my new 8 last week, and went to a dealer that would not put it on, they did reccomend it though. I had no trouble on my previous car but it was a Volvo wagon. My buddy has a rice and ridiculous Neon and gets pulled over for it all the time.

I have to park in a municipal lot and have received warning tickets from the village in the past; sadly, it has to stay on.

I've lived in chicago for about 3 years now. Street parking in lakeview with no front plate, never had a problem. However, last month I parked downtown on a saturday in the loop and got a ticket for the plate and the meter. Now I keep the plate in the car and put it on the dash when parking outside

Same here.

On an unrelated note, I wonder if (1) it would be legal to mount a front license plate upside down. As I recall, the only requirement in Illinois is that the plate be "firmly attached" to the front of the vehicle, or some such langauge. I also wonder if a State could create a "front plate delete" option that could be sold like personalized plates are now sold. Since not all States require front plates, I don't see why a "front-plate delete" option wouldn't be okay. Maybe we could use the first idea to lobby for the second.
