Greddy systems have been discussed a million times on this forum so you really should do a search for stuff like this.

Greddy F.A.Q.

You OBVIOUSLY didn't read the F.A.Q. or search for peoples installs! This topic has been beaten to DEATH.

It learns to use the search button or it gets the hose....

wow that was amazing, it vaguely answered ONE of my questions, im asking about local experiences with tuner shops, and what each individual shop charged for a install and how they conducted business.

call A spec in Chicago, they are about one of the only shops locally that I would trust to do the install. or grab a service manual and get ready to get some greasy knuckles

There is not alot of turbo'd 8's in Chicago, I can only think of maybe 2, one was a custom one off job, and one was a Greddy. If I could make a suggestion, Mazsport is coming out with a turbo for the 8 and it has a bigger turbo, GT35 I believe, and it has just alot of upgrades over the Greddy. The Greddy IMO was only made to be marketed to 8's because there is no other readily available kit, the Mazsport kit is made to be a very high quality, complete kit. If you can flip the extra cash I think you will be much happier with the Mazsport kit in the long run. Their link is here https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mazsport+turbo

I was at mazsport yesterday, their turbo kit is done and they're going to be selling it soon.

It sounded like it was an upgrade to the greddy, but in fact it's a complete kit, so no need for any greddy parts.

The only one I've seen personally in Chicago was a custom turbo, and he had a local unmaned company do the fabrication and it was shipped down to Mazsport for the tuning.

At least within the RX-8club, and ChicagoEvolv, community, their really aren't any FI RX-8s.

yeah, which is kinda sad. I would really like to be/have some people with FI.

I'll let him handle his product announcements... I don't want to say something incorrect about it. All I know is that it amounts to a complete kit including int-x, a much larger intercooler and turbo (same location as Greddy's) and much larger hp gains.

why is the turbo in the same location? isnt there issues from driving over puddles after hard driving? all that water on a really hot hotside?

I'm confused why that would be an issue. That location right at the exhaust manifold is the traditional location for a turbo. Fast spool - in theory, keeps the weight low and pushed back, unclutters the engine bay, etc...I really don't like the location of the PTP or SFR turbos myself.

It's a good location. It's down as low as it can go, and it's immediately at the exhaust manifold.

Also, it's not too big a deal to make a metal plate under it if you want a splash guard.

Has anyone here seen first hand problems with the greddy kit and water? (I'm not talking about torrential rainfall and flooding, but regular rain)

There's got to be more to that story, as no one on this forum has ever posted that complaint about the GReddy. Also, Pettit is still doing GReddy installs on cars recently.

Actually Mysq, didn't they do your install? I seem to recall someone recently in a thread discussing that.

Yes, Pettit did the install of my Greddy turbo. They also insulated a lot of the components. I'm not worried about fire.
