Grattan Open track Day - July 28th

OK guys and gals, we didn't get any RX8's out for the May 11th event, but there's always next time!!!
We have put the deposit down with Grattan for FRIDAY July 28th. Our event last week went very well even in the rain, so we decided to have another one. Here are the basic details:

-$135 for about 2 hours of track time (non-refundable)
-Helmet is required
-Lunch will be included this time (hence the higher price)
-4 groups of cars based on experience and vehicle
-passengers are allowed with a helmet
-we will be camping out the night before

For more detailed information and to register, check out the website:

www.3ballsracing.com

PS A few words about the website. We are in the process of moving the website to a dedicated domain name. I will update the link when that happens. We are trying to make the registration process as easy as possible. We have created a new email (boracing@comcast.net) that all 3 of us have access to (the organizers) so we can answer questions faster.

I think I may have to jump on this one... Time for me to start saving up for track day pads and rotors. I assume this course is fairly braking heavy, correct? Moreso than Blackhawk Farms?

There we go! I can't wait to see an RX8 out there!

Ya it is. You want a lot of braking capacity for the end of the 1/2 mile stright. I hit ~115 in my supercharged prelude. Other than that, it's not too aggressive. There are two other areas you'll need to brake from about 80 or 90 down to 30mph.

Sign up and save your spot! 2 months minus 1 day to go!

Turns 1,5 & 10 are heavy breaking. Turn 5 you break hard after the jump and the car is down hard on the suspention(if you are brave). Turn 11 is a flat out blind corner. You need to start you turn before you see it. Turn 3 is fun, you feel like your going to fall off the edge of the earth.
I hit 120 mph once at the end of the main straight.

Cheers

I'm seriously considering... How many miles did you guys break your cars in for? I'm at about 200 miles...

yes, the tun after the jump is the best part of the track in my opinion. You start to brake as you crest the jump, the car gets light so braking is at a minimum. Everytime I go through here I think i won't be able to make the turn. then the car regains it's weight, and brake just quick enough, and make the turn. Very fun!

I drive a honda, so what I say probably isn't worth squat to you. But I'll share anyway. My car didn't get a brake in period at all. I bolted in a supercharger with 5km on the car. then tunned it on the dyno, so several dyno runs, then some tests on the road... then I took it easy for the next 700km. After that it's been 135,000km of boosted happiness!

Dang, I signed up for the Petty Driving Experience, the week following the Gratten Track Day, before I purchased my RX-8. Wish I could get a refund on the Petty Experience, this sounds awesome.
