Proposed Meet: Jan. 21st
Hello all,
What do you say to a braekfast meet, as discussed earlier. I propose:
Time: Saturday, January 21, 2006
Place: Oakbrook or Shaumburg area
Restaurant: That is the part I am unsure of. If there is any interest, I solemnly swear that I will research breakfast restaurants in the area mentioned above to the best of my rather meager and limited abilities.
So, if you are interested, post a response!
Also, I will pick anyone up from home or train station anywhere north of 290.

Winter Meet with Mechanic
Hello all,
I posted a message a while back asking if anyone was interested in a meet where my father, an experienced mechanic who is knowledgeable concerning rotaries, would be there and we could have a Q&A session. There were only two responses, so unless I hear otherwise I assume that this idea was not such a good one. That's cool, but I did talk to him, and he thought it was a good idea and is willing to do it. If we change our minds, he is moving his shop at the end of the month, so he will not be available until the end of Feb. or early Mar.
Sakura
Edit: I tried to make the this post as benign as possible, but to make sure, I am not at all offended or disappointed by the lack of response. Anyways, I know my dad is cooler than your dad.

Just what time is this breakfast at?
And I still say I'd be down for meeting your father and hearing some technical explanations.

Previously RSD said, that her contact with Mazda Midwest could get us into the tech center in Schaumburg(?) some time to talk to the rotory head there. I would like to see that happen also.

Weekly meeting
Hi guys,
This just in response to earlier posts about the Autoshow and weekly meets.:
I will definitely be at the Autoshow and there are several track days at Autobahn and Roadamerica I will attend.
I loooove track days)
There's a F-body track weekend at Roadamerica On April 8/9.
There's a Alfa Club track weekend at Autobahn On May6/7.
Both charge $350.00 for 2 days.
Money well spent, IMHO.
I would really like to find (or start) a place to meet with like-minded Auto-enthusiasts on a weekly basis.
There are motorcycle meetings every Sunday morning at Full moon cafe on Hwy 41 in North Chicago.
There are classic car meetings every Friday evening at the MC D's at Gurnee Mills on Hwy 132 in Gurnee.
How about a Import (not necessarily just RX-8's) meet!
Where do we go? Some where in the northern Suburbs. (Then you're looking at Chicago and Milwaukee folks as well!)
If we get other car clubs involved it would be more fun and a lot more people!
(Evos, WRX's SRT's etc.) This would be awesome.
(It's no fun when only a handfull of cars show up.)
Who has connections to other Auto enthusiasts?
Any Thoughts?
PS:
I would love to go to Hot Import nights, but I probably can't make it.

Searching for places (looking into Omega as well!).

GForce 8,
You might know this already but JGTCA.com has regular meets every Saturday in Schaumburg. At least they did last season. They do not carry it through the winter though.
All,
Especially in the summer, there are lots of clubs, group, people that gather. I was thinking of a regular once a month date. As an example: Last thursday of every month at Portillo's. Then those of us with evening or rotating schedules have a better chance at getting off for one night every month. Would this be too organized? Also, I would fully expect the Organizing Queen to organize it...and maybe bring cookies. Al, do the RX-7 kids have somethiing like this?

RSD, you can't be mad at me, I have not yet sampled the delicious, heaven-on-Earth cookies YOU SLAVED OVER A HOT OVEN MAKING (AND NOT THE CRAPPY KIND EITHER, THE REALLY GOOD CHEWY CHOCOLATELY ONES!!) that I have heard such glowing reviews for.
It's not fair, the other kids have had some!

Regarding the Lamb's Automotive Meet, I will set it up, but I won't be able to set a date until the end of this month at the earliest. If I were a bettin' man, I would say end of Feb.

Ahhh... the RX7's. They are more dissorganized than we are (No offence meant). The Rotory Car Clulb of Chicago (www.chicagorotory.com), also known as RC3, is beginning to reorganize. It use to be mainly a RX7 3rd gen. group. There isn't enought of these people around that are willing to work with the club anymore. The leaders were allway excepting us. It was the people on rx7club that didn't want the 8's around.

So many answers, so little time.
I'm interested in the two educational type meets discussed, hard for me to make a solid commitment without dates though (kids are such a drain on my personal life).
Won't be able to make breakfast on the 21st.
If I may give an opinion on regularly scheduled meets; not Thursdays, I play softball on Thursdays from April through October, otherwise great idea. Us ****-retentive types like schedules.
