Chicago area performance/tuner shops
Hello all.
I just wanted to see if there was any particular shops in the Chicagoland area that RX8 owners specifically like to use for their aftermarket parts or installs.
Thanks for any insight. By the way, I did run a search in this forum but nothing came up.

Welcome to the forum.
Most of us do the light to moderate mechanical work our selves. Those that keep their car stock will return to the dealer.
There is one place that specializes in rotary cars, A-Spec in Schaumburg. The problem with them is, they only want to work on RX7's. The next nearest place is Banzai in NW Indiana. I was there last spring and I still don't know what services they will provide for the RX8.
There are other places that will work on rotary cars. Protege Garage in Libertyville comes to mind.

Hey man, I was wondering not too long ago as well. I'm getting the Esmeril kit put on at Performance Autowerks out in Plainfield. They do great work on any car. They were more than hapy to work on my 8. They've never done it before but have a guy who knows rotaries. But, the main thing is the guy there Dave, makes you feel really comfortable and I can't wait to take it there In March. Yes, the shop is goin to tune it as well.....granted, I am getting the additional maps with the interceptor-x from Chris from Esmeril, which really eliminates some tuning, but, I told the shop that Chris is extremely helpful and will help them with any tuning questions. So, basically it's like having chris tune it over the phone
