If it is her fault, her liability insurance has to cover everything. There is no deductable for you. I'm not sure if they will cover a rental car or not.

yup, when someone else it at fault, your insurence doesnt do jack.

when i got hit in my old tiburon when it got totalled, i made 1 phone call to inform my insurence, and never had to talk to them again about anything. from that point on, i was dealing with the girl that hit me's insurence. i even got a rental car out of the deal. and got to keep the car a month while i ripped all my performance parts out (along with the motor and trans, and tossed a dead motor, and cracked trans back in!) lol

you can get a lot out of the other insurance company, especially if it is yours, by calling and talking directly to the adjuster working on the case and being nice to them. Adjusters have total discretion to cover - or not - things like your rental car etc etc. Lots of times you can be entitled to get something like that but the adjuster, who is looking out for the bottom line, will not give it out because you have pissed them off. It's shady as hell but that's an insurance company for you.

I have a friend who is legal staff at an insurance company and she explained a lot of this to me when I was going through my last incident with the rx8.

nice. i'm not as apprehensive since we both have Farmers insurance.

do you think it's possible to get a prepainted MS rear bumper out of this? i'm assuming the body shop will just paint a new stock bumper and blend it into the quarter panels which will probably drive the estimate up more than it needs to be. i dunno...

edit:
oh crap nevermind. i thought the MS rear was a whole bumper but it's just an underspoiler.

My brother got his rear bumper smashed a month back, and the other guy's insurance only got him a 'like new' replacement... so the bumper wasnt brand new, but it was in new condition and repainted.
Although im sure all this depends on what insurance it is and how they handle it.

Best of luck... hopefully they can get it fixed relatively quickly... It sucks to be out of a car for a bit, especially when it isn't your fault.

It is Illinois law that you can get your car repaired where ever you want. Your (or there) insurance company can not ask you to get a second quote. If you don't want a "reconditioned" bumper just get your quote at a Mazda dealer.

Or ask a body shop to use only genuine OEM parts.

I saw a Yellow 8 heading north on Washington in Naperville today, right where Washington starts. Actually knew what a 7 was and gave me a wave! Sweet!! Anybody here?

fortunately for me, a reputable body shop is across the street from my subdivision about a quarter mile walk from my home. it used to be sterling and then they changed the name to platinum.

Gotta love Al - always looking out for us! Thanks, Al!

The dohickie is a critical part. I lost 50 hp without it.

That's because you forgot to say "babadabeepadaboop" before you redlined it.

He's right... and with how much torque our cars have, that extra 5ft-lbs works out to be 48% more!
