Just wanted to offer ... I've been pretty hard core into home stereo DIY lately. I've built quite a few sets of speakers with great success, some amps, all the other crap like speaker and power wires. Anyway, I have a full measurement setup with a Behringer ECM8000 measurement mic and ARTA software. If you have a custom stereo setup with a decent EQ, I can give you essentially RTA services, and let you know exactly what the weaknesses of your setup are. Even better, if you happen to be running an active crossover setup I can measure the distortion and response curves of your individual drivers and help you tweak the crossover points.

 

Oh, and forgot to mention ... will work for beer!

 

Sounds yummy. Unfortunately I'm pretty limited on my sound room right now until I finish my basement. I might have to keep you in mind when I finally get to THAT project.

 

If you talk to me before you start an install I can help design a DIY component set for you, and build the passive crossovers to go with it ... oh, and for a lot less money then you'd pay otherwise

** edit ** just realized you're talking about home stereo, I do that obviously. But what I'm offering here is to help tune up your car system. I'd be happy to help with a home setup too if you want though - and take beer as payment for that as well.

 

LOL!! Oops. I know teretsboy is definitely looking for a custom setup. I'll also be looking for something relatively soon as well. I'm needing a little more low end, I know that much.

 

Yeah I'm trying to set up a custom sub box and wouldn't mind really perfecting the whole balance. As of now I don't have much to work with though.
