I think theirs a guy located in ohio with the tool to do a compression test for a rotary. Have to search the forums or just post that you would like to rent one.

Redsun: I think it's about $100 at the dealer from what I've been seing. Who knows if that's true for this area though. I'd taked it to Kerry Mazda if you do it down here. Seems like they treated kwikslvr pretty well doing his engine. You can try the RX7store up on columbus too. They might have a compression tester. Defined Autoworks in Groveport could be another option as well. Hell, it's worth stopping in to see their 3 rotor fd, 13bRE swapped 240, and some of the other cars. I've seen them, but I've never been to their shop.

If you have hot start issues, there is an order as to what to check. Ignition system is first, as in battery, plugs, wires, coils... then as long as those are new get a compression test. If you take it to the dealer, they do a heat soak, get it really hot, then shut it off and try to restart it. if it fails they do a compression test. as long as it fails both of those, new engine covered by Mazda. I just got a new engine installed totally for free. Also i wouldn't replace the starter, i still have the old one even after the new engine, i did not get the updated starter. the starter is rarely the issue with hot start problems, its normally one of the above. I would just take it in and have it looked at if i were you, no sense in wasting time and money when you aren't sure if it will fix it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys. I may go ahead and get a compression test done. The battery, plugs and coils have been changed too recently for it to be an issue. I'll check the wires too, but I rather doubt there's an issue with the wires.

Redsun - you can also try King's Mazda as I know the guy there is really good and they did my engine swap out much faster than Kerry seemed to be able to do for folks - be sure to ask for Durbin (sp) as your tech. I had her in and out in less than a week from the point they did the compression test to out burning rubber with my new engine. I am sure the RX7 store is good but I didn't personally have much luck down there with my engine issue and King's was able to take care of me quickly - oh yeah and it was free for my new engine too, whoo hoo!

Redsun. Our shop will do a compression test for $95.00 + tax. If your vehicle still falls under the warranty extension program that $95.00 will be covered by Mazda. Our phone # is 513-683-4088.
And for everyone else what saturday do you feel we should do the Rotary day here at Kings Mazda?

Our rotary swaps are more determined by when Mazda gets them to us than anything. I can swap one out in a day.

And yeah I didn't hear of anything about a pipe.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone is interested in series 1 or 2 rims? Seeing if anyone local would want them.

I could be selfish and say any time after 26 March for the dealer day, but being realistic I probably won't be allowed out of my wife's sight for several weeks after getting home (and I am already pushing it having gotten her to agree to go the The Mitty as far as car events). So whenever you set it up, if I can be there I will.

I am down for a dealer day anytime but the weekend of DGRR (last weekend in April as Fuz said) and also I am in New Mexico April 9th & April 16th but for heaven's sake don't wait on me, those are just days I know I am booked already. Sounds like I was lucky to need a new engine when Mazda had them "in-stock" then since mine was a quickie. Maybe next time you need to plan your wear better so it blows when engines are available

im not quite sure what you are getting at but when you join the scca you also join a local region as well(cincy would be best for most of the people on this thread but there are several other local ones as well). you do get to race for less cash and you also get discounts at a few hotels rental car places and you get a sub. of Sprots Car magazine aside form a few other things. i know i shouldnt say this but if you only plan on going to 1 or 2 events its not really worth it unless you are under 24(i think). glad to see you are interested though. if you or anyone else has any questions feel free to p.m. me for all the info you need. also of note i looked at our site at cincy mills.....looks like lots of fun.

I think I'm going to try and get a compression test in Columbus sometime next week if I can. If not I'll try to get one done back in Cincy before I leave for spring break the week after. I'll probably just get it done at Kings if I have it done here.

Also as far as the dealer day, almost any Saturday is good for me except for the rest of March since I'll be gone for spring break. But don't let that stop you from doing one.

Hi, guys -
Former 8 owner here turned Hyundai. I used to be well connected with a few guys in Lexington, but moved up to Florence for work and have been looking to find a group of guys/girls that meets and cruises on occasion.

I really enjoyed the people I met through this club and thought I'd start here. Anything going on recently?

Fuel for Coffee and Cars every saturday morning. I'm there almost every saturday, and a few of the others in the area stop in from time to time when they can. It's open to all cars and everyone is friendly and happy to talk about what they brought and what you brought.

Good question. I drove by this morning, and it's still dry and should be unless the river gets to above 60 feet or so. They might have problems then. It's at almost 55 now.

from the weather forecast, it should be a nice day.
(well.. kinda hard to believe when i'm seeing snow outside, right now...)

I'll probably be there around 9:30 or 10:00.
