OK thanks... so we got the car, and it makes a lot of road noise from the rear. Was droning hum noise??? On 4.5 hour drive. Any ideas? Really annoying buying a car and it didn't do it on the test drive. Wife dropped and cracked her iPhone too... not a good day.

 

Stock exhaust? Could be the tires that are on it? Does it sound like there is rubbing or grinding? And does it change pitch with speed change?

I just picked up an e36 M3 and on the way back from the BMV after it was titled in my name it overheated = needs new head gasket. That and the slave might have gone out... Pedal won't disengage the clutch. Fun stuff

 

Hey Bobbydigital. Yeah the exhaust is stock, and my first thought was tires too because they are some generic ZR's, that were probably super cheap junk. Going to rotate and get it up in the air today. Sorry to hear about your M3, sucks when you buy a car and there is issues, but the price is right for it. Also looking for a set of Xenons, because both of ours are spider cracked like someone hit them, that and major door dings lol...project car. I will say that the interior is nice though and clutch is tight and runs good.

I'm usually down at Fuel Coffee just about every Saturday morning along with other guys from here who have since moved onto other cars since selling their Rx8's.

 

So looking around didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Rotated the Fierce Instinct ZR (oooh) crap junk M+S tires. Still howling and now when I brake hard on the right front car shutters... I'm thinking it's the tires.

Never had to deal with tires of this caliber, so I'm not dealing with them and just ordered some new Dunlop DZ101 Direzza's. Those were on my first RX8 when I bought it, and they are super quiet so we'll see what happens.

 

anybody have a shop or person around us who works on rotaries?

Been a while since anyone posted in here I see. We just sold the wife's 8 today, a guy drove up from Georgia to get it (said all the ones he looked at down there were crap). I'll probably skulk around here occasionally. Still go to Fuel sometimes mainly in the Miata so if you see me say hi.

 

Same, been a long while since I've been on here - currently looking for an RX-8 preferably great shape but not running for a 4-rotor build.

Currently rocking a 2015 5.0 F150 NA build but may sell to fund the project if interested lmk.

 

Hey Gang - I'm in Cincinnati. I just found out that Rotor 1 on my 2009 RX8 R3 is blown. Jeff Wyler Mazda will replace the engine for 7k and in other parts of this forum people are stating that I should be able to get the engine replaced for around $5600.

1. Do you guys know anyone besides Mazda in our area that could do the engine replacement?
1a. I have maybe 3k for repair on this car so it maybe a moot point

2. Do you guys have any ball park guess on How much R3 Recaro Seat and R3 19 inch wheels with Michelin Pilots tires are worth on the used part market?
