Most of us just hibernate during the winter season.
I'm still driving mine back and forth to work.
Today my snow tires will get a decent workout on the trip to work.

Gotta love a RWD car in the snow.

But the real answer is that most of the people who live in the Mountain region just aren't very active when it comes to being social.

When I used to live in Colorado Springs I would meet up with the Colorado Mazda Club (CMZC) on Friday nights.

Lots of good people there! Colorado Mazda Club - Powered by vBulletin

I'm in Topeka KS for a couple more months. Plus it is winter time. Mountain region + winter = no activity due to weather mostly.

Speak for yourself.
We have fun here, even if we are down about 20% in the power department.

Maybe everyone has their Rx8s garaged for the winter?? Mine is a DD. My wife drives it year round. We put some 17x7s and studded snow tires on it. This car is a beast in the snow. Has yet to get stuck, slide, or any of the above (in the snow). I actually think it does better in the snow that my mazdaspeed3.

Hopefully though we can find a catless midpipe soon. The wife listened to some exhaust sounds on youtube and now she wants her r3 to sound like that. Also got some new brake pads, ignition coils, wires, plugs, tranny fluid, diff fluid, coolant, 02 sensors, brake fluid and p/s fluid. Gonna do a major 30k maintenance for her as soon as it warms up a bit. Then talk my wife into registering and doing some autox and track events!!

BC and I DD ours as well. Both on the stock wheels with snows. I'll take the 8 with snows over an FWD any day, but thats my preference.

Im on 17" (not studded) blizzaks here in Utah. No problems. Just lots of fun! blows my mind when I see other cars in accidents with their FWD. its amazing the difference snow tires make.
Also, every car here is down on power. so at least we stay proportionally "fast"

What's up Darth? Are you still abroad or you back min the states.

Would be nice if these guys would join cmzc . Help liven things up a bit over there. It'd be an easier place to get cruises going this summer with other Mazda owners. Im like the only active RX-8 guy there and I have 2.

I would not go cat less. Not sure what it sounds like with the stock muffler but with my magna flow muffler and a 16" resonator it sounds horrid. I'd keep the cats and just do a muffler. If you want to have a listen let me know. Its amazing the difference between a catless + magnafllow VS a catless+ magnaflow + turbo is.

Right now my grey 8 sounds really loud and sloppy. It does not sound crisp or clean. Sounds like a major ricer.

Been living in DC for almost a year now

I check out CMZC every now and then as the DC area doesn't have a club website...

The Rotary area has been over run with FDs!!! All mountain forum readers need to join...NOW

How is your turbo'd 8 doing?

At mentioned most of us are hibernating. I dont drive my 8 here in New Mexico because everybody drives like lunatics in inclement weather. I dont like the thought of some jack wagon putting a F-150 through my drivers side door.

The 8 was doing excellent. Upped the boost this fall and was making just under 300 whp. Blew a turbo seal in Jan. Motor is still good. Getting the turbo sent out to BNR soon. Was good timing since I needed to pull the turbo for emissions anyways. To much boost for the small turbo. It was fun though beating all those modified EVO IX/X and sti.

Had the kit in for like 3-4 yrs. I plan on building a custom kit and slapping the Greddy kit on the grey 8.
