Are you thinking that the HKS ignition is the last upgrade you'll need to hold at 12psi, or did you also upgrade your coils? Seems like many are going to the Bosch units.

I believe the HKS setup will do it. Someone (Scott) I believe ran the HKS up to enough PSI to make ~380. So it should be fine at 12PSI. If not... I will start crying though :mad:

yeah i'm planning on gettting the hks DLI, actually i was going to get it before even getting the turbo. I was just wondering though, should i get a wideband with the kit? if so i'm thinking the plx. and also if i get the hks then new coils aren't nessecary right?

New coils will not be necessary, unless yours are currently bad. I would get the wideband for the interceptor so you can datalog AFR with all of your other logging while tuning. It will really help for accurate drivability tuning.

yeah thje abuility to tune and look at your a/f ratios is very beneficial so that you can stay in the safe range... from my experience its a good idea to check your a/f at least once a week if you dont have a gauge so that you can keep track of whether you need to retune the car... as soon as weather changes there you absolutely need to keep track of how rick or lean you are to keep your motor healthy

Says who?

No it is not true, the block can probably hold alot of power, the only problem in creating that power is that the rotors are high compersion. so it's hard to safly generate a bunch of power.

What's the deal with motor mounts?

Does it lower the engine so it's closer to the ground. By doing this it allows more room for the turbo and a larger space beteen the manifold?

i would be willing to bed they are poly mounts to keep the motor planted and from thrashing the mounts with the added power.

the mounts that mazsport has supplied are solid mounts and i believe (speculation) they do not change teh height of the motor because that would alter a few of the other main pieces of the drive train... drive shaft etc.....

They don't alter it, but they provide two benefits.

1. They are much smaller and allow proper placement of the turbo manifold without having to sacrifice design, and they allow more room for the turbo
2. They don't break. The stock oil based mounts crack very quickly when you start pumping out this kind of power.

Is that a good thing? I mean, solid mounts might put a lot more stress on certain parts than they were designed for - otherwise if that wouldn't be the case, Mazda might have gone with solid mounts too which would simplify things. Of course then there could be more vibrations though.
My main concern with solid mounts is that something might break. Am I wrong?

I doubt you have to worry about breaking the area where the mounts go... take a look next time you are down under the car. It is very well enforced. Also, you cannot run a non-solid mount with this turbo. Too much torque... you will tear it every time.

No manufacturer goes with OEM solid mounts, because it does increase cabin noise and vibration to some extent. We are fortuneate that the renesis is super smooth, and the only time you really feel the solid mounts is under really heavy load or when you bog it. Otherwise, there isn't really much difference.

As far as breaking something, I have 1K miles on mine so far, and Mazsport has over 30K miles on theirs. So I don't think you really have anything to worry about.

PS-It was really cool spending a couple days with the Mazsport people... I learned alot.

i have 43k on my non turbo 8 and my coil packs and motor mounts were bad.....

it just is one of those wear items....

the best way i can describe the feeling of the motor mounts being bad it the shudder when the ac is recirculating....pretty big vibration

anyway, the motor mounts that come with the turbo will never break....to me (after replacing mine once already) that would be my selling point.....

Slavearm how will this turbo kit function with 95/98/99 octane which we have here in Norway? On mye gas tank cover it says, do not fill below 95 octane. I was thinking of ordering. Hope i will find someone qualified to install this for me :Eyecrazy:.

I believe the octane ratings are different in Europe...meaning they are higher than the same gas in the US.

I don't remember how they match up though...
