I bought unit #12 if I remember correctly from CZ when they first came out -- it was $550 Sold it to a friend for $250 when I got the GReddy. Now I will proably just give my emanage away to my mechanic to use for Honda in exchange for some install time for the InterceptorX and GReddy turbo upgrade coming soon from Mazsport :D

Thumbs up

Man... is there a price too high for the Godsend of all RX8 ECUs? J/K but man, for what that ECU can do for the RX-8 and the fact they are totally supporting Greddy Turbo kits etc... can you really ask for more. I have not stopped grinning from ear to ear since I saw this. I was on my way to hack up a haltech with the stock ECU and try to get similar results. Look someone did it for me WOOHOO!!!! :D OK, and they are going to do a Greddy upgrade kit!!!!! Holy crap... I think i just heard my credit card company 3000 miles away printing up my next CC bill. Hot damn... as soon as they have it packaged with a greddy kit, I will be on the phone to buy the kit. Amazing.

Now if I blow my motor, I can totally port it without fear of not being able to tune it. Yum yum love me some mazsport.

Being that this unit is just plug and play and it takes less than an hour to install-deinstall, i bet if you buy it tuned for the n/a 8, and decide to go FI down the road, you can just send in the unit and Scott will tune it for you -- or he'll provide you w/ a new map.

After talking to Scott, he is making sure everyunit is flawless and as closely matched to your modifications as possible. Let me tell you, he is working like a bull...

Agreed. He is very hard working, and spent a goof 15-20 minutes out of his very busy day just answering all my questions. I don't think customer service gets any better.

I would disagree simply because I have a different definition of customer service.

Customer service is what happens after the product is sold and/or delivered. Sales is what happens before that point.

Thanks, but the product was sold. I bought it before I spoke with him, just going off other opinions here on various threads. So again, it was good customer service for him to answer all my questions, AFTER I bought the unit already.

I talked to Scott and he mentioned that with the software for the interceptor you can monitor the A/F along with other engine vitals with a laptop. Anyone know if the A/F monitoring feature requires the installation of another wideband, or does it tap into the stock O2's?

I believe you need another wideband.

for the HKS, I hope there is a tuner for HKS in Austin, since you can't tune it yourself.

Check PTP's site. They're in Austin and HKS pro-certified dealer.

Why are your dyno runs in 5th gear?

Probably because 5th is the 1:1 ratio gear I think.

off topic...but why all the fuss about dynoing in the 1:1 gear? no one ever seems to take into account the rear end gears too

In 5th gear power passes in straight line through the main shaft and therefore losses are minimised. In every other gear the power must turn through 180degrees on to and off the lay shaft thus increasing power loss.
