It is not the ratio which is important.

might this be why the cars are dynoing so low?

I only made 218 whp at stock boost in 3rd gear . . . I figured it was my huge rear wheels.

No these cars dyno what they dyno 3rd and 5th gear don't make a whole lot of difference. Last time i checked my peek horsepower difference in 3rd gear and 5th gear was 1 or 2hp.

The only thing I don't like about dynoing in 5th gear is the wheelspeed gets so high that you end up with inaccurate readings toward the 7-9k RPM range. That in combination with what in my opinion is Airflow starvation toward the top end of the graph results in a lot of spikyness.

Scott... Skip at KD gave me a call bright and early yesterday could you PM me ur direct number I can't seem to find it on your site.

Actually the gear selected for the dyno pull on a forced induction car will "load the turbo" a bit different. You might see some peak #'s in second or third gear a bit higher than fifth because the turbo does not run out of CFM as quickly. Big turbo cars will show better fifth gear results because they can provide the required CFM at sustained high RPM.
