New Flash + Interceptor???

Scott,
I was curious to know if the Interceptor owners can get the new flash done. The one that is accompanied with the "Engine Recall" service order. Do i need to disconnect the Interceptor and run only stock PCM in order to do the flash properly?
Also, does reflashing mean i need to get retuned? I wouldnt imagine so, since the interceptor doesn't manipulate a signal like a traditional piggy-back unit.

Oh and Scott... I want to talk to you about the new turbo kit. Give me a ring.

Im still curious. I'm sure Scott's busy at the moment and will get back to us soon. In the meantime... I'd be curious to know how other Interceptor Owners are handling the recall/flash.

this is a hard call.... i think it does not matter, as it controls what it controls... it does not modify.... ie % of flash would not = % of after flash...

i would just give him a ring... might be faster than this...

btw, how you digging hi???

i' ve seen a number of recalls come and go since installing the Interceptor-X when it was first released and would tend to agree with swoope - i don't think it matters. however, i'd still like to see what Scott has to say.

Off topic for Harry - I'm sure you've gone out to Kapolei and HRP since you've moved there, right? I heard the track is being sold, has been sold, is under renovation or something. What's the real deal. I lived in Hono from 97-02 while i was stationed up at Kunia and used to go out there when straight-line Honda and Acura Integras ruled the scene and when Alex Pfiefer and Ross Petty and a few others were mere punks sliding their cars around! Anyway, I ran into Ross here (after many years) at the Formula D event in Wall, NJ. He's come a long ways and was turning wrenches for Drift Alliance. Didn't see him get to run, even tho his car, an S13, has an GT-R RB26 stuffed into it.

Enjoy the 808, dude, i definitely did!

The Int-X does not stop you from getting the new flash and it will not alter your tuning since the injectors and ignition coils are completely severed from the PCM by it.
The Int-X does not control the throttle, fans, MOP or any of the other secondary systems, so those things will benefit from the new flashes as they address them.

So is it ok just to leave everything plugged in while they flash it?

Wuddup Fellas,
First I actually did call Scott at his shop and left a message for him. I know he'll get back to me soon... but since there are probably other people wondering the same thing... i decided to post it here.

Now time for Off-Topic Fun!!!!
LOL, So yeah... the 808 is going great. I'm pretty busy with school/work but still have some free time on the weekends to check things out. Drifter_D, I think the ongoing news with the track is a mystery to all. I hear they are going to either try to re-build it into a top notch facility, or build a new one somewhere else, or run in circles for many years and nothing gets done.

In the meantime AutoCrossing has started again at Aloha Stadium. From what I have read it seems like the Aloha Stadium people are very anti-drifitng.. but we'll see if that changes as time goes on. I hope they do open something up for the drifters.. otherwise were gonna see a lot of people with cars wrapped around rock cliffs, trees, and foating in the ocean. That would be no bueno.

Oh, and while on the subject of Hawaii, some of my friends from mainland were here a few weeks back and took some amazing pics. This should bring back some memories for you...

all those awesome pics definitely took me back. however, that's not all the beautiful scenery there... there is some serious wahine (babe) action there... hahaha! yeah, drifting wasn't big with the racing scene and it was done on the back roads until they opened Hawaii Raceway Park (HRP) for it. i miss the island, L&L, Anna Miller's for breakfast after a night of partying, curry house across from Pearliridge Mall.... man! Memories, memories...

Aloha, brah!

That looks beautiful BigOLundh!

I went to Kawai earlier this year, February. Remember when they had the reservoir break and flood the northside of the island? That is when I was there...

Still had fun did some snorkeling and such but man it rained 9 our of the 12 days we were there. For those that don't like rain the best time to go is in September - November is what I am told.

We saw a lot of whales when we were on the boat trip around the north side of the island! Amazing to see them come out of the water and breach.

The new flash should not affect the Interceptor X engine tuning at all. The purpose behind the Interceptor X is that it removes the factory computer's ability to run the engine. Changes to the oil metering pump volume for instance are still handled by the factory computer. The factory computer with the new flash should adjust the omp rates appropriately.

i'm just going to take it in, with everything in place, and have them flash the upgrades. the service manager already knows i've voided everything on the car except for the windshield wipers... lol! but he is a big rotary fan, and checks out the car everytime i bring it in.

Scott, looking forward to hearing all about your new turbo system.

yeah, i guess i'll just do the same.

my main question was if i needed to unplug hte interceptor to allow the flash. Oh well, i guess i'll just leave it all in.

Also, another point to think about... this flash only adjusts the metering pump from the previous flash, but i never got a flash since i bought the car (2004)... so this is actually going to also probably cause a lot of other changes. Hopefully my f*cking radiator fan wont stay on so long after i turn off the car anymore.

The cooling fan control kit is a great way to keep your 8 cool. A lot of members in here have it, as I do. I can tell you there is a big difference on the hot days with my car's reaction to activity. the install is really easy. check the website for more information on the product and benefits....mazsport.net

i didnt see a lot of change with the s flash, but i am sure it all helps....

actually i have a different problem. My fan stays on when i turn the car off. Not just for 1 or 5 min.. but sometimes for hours on end. Its ridiculous.

Actually, i check the water temp gauge sometimes a good 20min after the car is off and it'll read nice and low... but the fan is still running. BTW, the gauge is aftermarket... not the factory water temp gauge.

So Mazsportmantis... is it ok to get flashed with the Interceptor plugged in?

I received the S flash with mine in no problem..... is that the flash you are talking about?

I suppose it will also depend on your M dealer. I have a good relationship with mine.
