What is the cost for a "new" Maf. Well least one that isn't broken like mine.

Is a difference between broken and dirty. It can be cleaned but if you touch the maf wires in the process it's toast.

It is the same MAF sensor as some Protege models. You should be able to buy new for about $75.

Thanks. Didn't know that.
It also looks close to some of the '02 Wrx Maf.
I would say it's broken because when the engine was swapped the numb nuts the swapped it (read stealership) stripped the screw holes out of the intake and the plastic "shield" around the bulb was missing and the bulb and wire are bent.

So yes I think its broken.

I do, I do. Current used price is $75 (New is $136.19). Give me a call or PM me and I may see if I feel a discount breeze flow my way.

What would be a suggestion if the screw holes are almost stripped out on the plastic tube for the MAF? I have taken it out a couple times to clean it, and that plastic is not very strong and I think the screws have about stripped it out. Would you just use loctite on the screws? Any suggestions.

I take it you are referring to the Intake box itself?
Paul.

If the threads are 'screwed' up I'm not sure that loctite is the best solution. I would attempt to 'chase' the threads to see if they will revive a bit, then maybe some removable loctite.
Paul.

QUICK FIX!!use a larger screw with fine threads half inch long.if you use self tapping and be sure you blow out the excess plastic shavings...works like new!!

i had this problem when i was making mods to the intake and found out the maf was loose
so i got two slightly larger screws and rethreaded the holes blew out the excess plastic dirt
reinstalled the maf with no more problems...also some time in the future i believe that if someone of the great brains would come up with a maf that would change the air flow measures to let the fuel rate be tuned for better mpg..(don't flame me)
