MM baseline map

Hey please don't flame me for this but just wanted some clarification, i just got the Cobb with MM tuning, and can I use the MM baseline tune just to drive around all the time? Or is that for just the calibration? Or would I be better off using the Cobb stage 1, then switch back to the baseline when I want to get it tuned? (Im only asking because I don't have time to complete the test runs and logs now) And does the MM baseline tune already increase the MOP rates or does MM have to get me the first tune for that to happen?

(by baseline I mean the one MM sends in a zipped file when he ships the Cobb, before I have sent any data logs)

Thanks guys

Wow man this is a really interesting post that you probably could have ask Jeff or at least found out by reading his threads and also it depends on whether you are boosted or NA and by that I mean if you are turbo charged super charged or natural aspirated. If you are NA it is completely safe for you to drive around with the MM baseline map as a matter of fact you are suppose to drive around with the baseline map it is called drive cycles and I hope you find reading this as shitty as I found reading your post.

I'm doing this only in an effort to help preserve MM's sanity, you might be the final straw that breaks the camels back.

I told you already that if you are Natural Aspirated that you are completely and totally fine to drive around with your new BaseMap from MM.

You still didn't answer that question so we still don't know if you are NA or Boosted.

If you decide to do your data logging on the same day you install the basemap ... MM will be able to tell that you have not allowed for a few drive cycles with the tune in the car.
Drive Cycle = Car gets to operating temperature, is allowed to cool down completely, rinse repeat.

By not allowing the tune to bake for a few drive cycles you are only going to make things take longer.

If you can't understand this you are never going to make it through his data logging session.

Ok let me clarify a few things

1) yes I am still NA, i would not be trying to run the car with a turbo and no tuning, hence cobb stage 1 (only changes to catback, no modification of intake sizing)

2) i know it is safe, but i am merely wondering which one is better performance wise - MM base tune vs cobb stage 1. Like i said i don't have time to do data logs now, but i still want my car to be operating at its peak.

3) i have read through the instructions multiple times, and it only says to do one complete cycle then data log, no where does it say to have multiple drive cycles. if that was common knowledge, i am sorry, but that is why i am not tuning the car myself

4) finally i have heard multiple times about increasing MOP rates and fan operation etc. and I was wondering if that is included on the base tune, or is that something i must specifically request

It says at least 2 drive cycles must be completed. And yes, MOP rates and fan op is included in base tune

i don't want to argue on a moot point or anything, because it really does not matter anymore, but "After performing one complete drive cycle, your RX-8 will be ready to provide the required data-log feedback to MazdaManiac for further customization and tuning. "

thank you for the information on the MOP rates though that is just as, if not more, important
