Will Houston get another racetrack?
If the guys at Liberty Motorsports Park get their way Houston will have another racetrack to call home.
About Liberty Motorsports Park - URL for more info: http://www.libertymotorsportspark.com
Liberty Motorsports Park is a master planned Motorsports Park development situated on a scenic undulating 810-acre tract in Liberty County, Texas adjacent to the City of Cleveland. LMP provides not only a world-class designed racetrack, but also one of the most functional paddocks in the United States.
Adding to the development are residential and commercial properties on the facility grounds that provide over 300 acres of development property. Designed utilizing FIM/FIA specifications to ensure safety and a facility that can host world-class as well as regional events, LMP is positioned to be the next great American Motorsports Park.
I think it is interesting that they took the FIM/FIA specifications into mind. Since the Motorsports Ranch sites do not follow such specifications they are not highly considered by racing organizations or sanctioning bodies.
So now we have three drag strips (Houston Raceway Park, Houston Motorsports Park, and LoneStar (now owned by Hennessey) and four road courses (including those being developed) Motorsports Ranch Houston, Grand Sport Speedway, LoneStar Motorsports Park and the afore mentioned Liberty Motorsports Park. Not to mention we still have Texas World Speedway just an hour away (that would make 5).
Wow, maybe by the time they get all of these tracks done, I will have gotten my car together!

There was a meeting a couple of weeks ago for investors and driver education people to attend. I have checked out the area... it's cleared off and ready for development... other details are sketchy.

Wow, our area has gone from famished to supersaturated in just a few years!
By the way, I hope that the GSS operation continues to improve. They've got a long way to go to get to the level of MSR. There was quite a contrast in my experiences between the two tracks and the way that they are run.
