Want Rev Limit Cut
Hey guys, I live in the Dallas area and have an 05 AT and I'm trying to get some info on getting my rev limit cut. I haven't been able to find anything about where I can get it done in the area or how much it costs to do this. Anyone in the Dallas area have any info on this? Can you do it yourself? I'd really appreciate any info you guys have. I know I will need to change tranny fluid to redline and get a atf cooler in the whole process too.

When I owned my AT, I searched for the same info and my inquiries always led me to the
same conclusion...
The AT RPM rev limit is set to 8500? (although I did reach 8750-75 on rare occasion) to
protect the tranny, specifically the torque converter from going in to warp drive
and implosion. The stock AT doesn't produce much HP beyond 9K anyway. I'd be looking
for ways to increase my bottom end torque vs. the top end.
Members with more technical knowledge of Rotary Engineering can explain this better then I can.

Quit freaking trying?
You suggest we give up?

Back on topic - everything is computer controlled. The only way to change the redline (or fuel, timing, etc) is to either reflash the PCM or go aftermarket.
Check out this article on Racing Beat's PCM re-flash service. They do three things - change the fuel maps, raise the rev-limiter, lower the on temperature for the cooling fans.

However, this is only for the manual.

It looks like I just need the interceptorX to do it unless I want to send off my ecu to be reflashed by Reamemiya. I can't go above 8K on my AT. I'm probably not going to worry about it too much for now anyway. I'm moving on to other mods. That will have to come later. When I did it I would have to install an ATF cooler and replace tranny fluid with redline. i'm probably going to get my taxes done as quick as possible this year and get the borla exhaust. I've got 3 mods in mind that I'm wanting to do pretty soon -
1 revi intake with duct
2 borla exhaust
3 mazdaspeed shocks with sprint springs
I've pretty much decided on the exhaust unless you guys think I should go with another mod first. Thanks
