tx folks help me out

i was told that if a car does not have a mounting place for a front liscence plate you cant get a ticket for not having one. since our mount can easily be taken off and there is no other place to put it, could that apply. or am i totally wrong?

thanks

Yep they snagged me on that once. I asked the trooper...who are waaay cooler than APD about that law and if he could explain it to me cause I put the plate in the windshield and thought the law was...

"As long as its displayed in front...somewhere"

Apparently I was wrong...

Now its "interpreted" by the trooper but he explained it to me as...

"Displayed on the front of the vehicle as in...the VERY front...hence..bumper"

He also went on to say that if I were to contest it that the judge "interprets" law and that is the "accepted interpretation" and not the literal one.

He let me go with a warning on that but still gave me the expired inspection...cool guy...

yeah, it is against the law but I have had mine off for almost a year with no problems (I drive 100 miles a day too). The ticket is $80.00 so even if I get one I will just pay it. I really hate the look of teh front plate on this car. You can use the EVO plate holder to move the plate elsewhere though if you like.
It depends where you live, country cops have nothing better to do. SAPD cops are too busy to pull over a run of the mill white dude in a tie just to hassle over a plate.
Unfortunately my best friend is mexican and was pulled over in less than a week for no plate on his STI. Even the cops at the track do not hassle me. In my Civic I was pulled over all the time for different ****.

i haven't had a front license plate on my car in almost 10 years, I've been pulled over many, many times, and not once has an officer even mentioned it.

I have however heard a cop say "well, if it looks better with it off, then I don't bother" :D

Yeah, depends on the cop and your attitude. I have lots of friends that are cops so I know if you give attitude, you will get the short end of the stick. But if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time they will use any excuse to pull you over. So if you drink and drive or **** liek that then I don't recommend it.

Yep...for the most part if your not riced out...or terrorist looking....or a honda...they will leave you alone.

Driving a CRX w/ an expired inspection will get you pulled over in a heartbeat...

Driving a nicer car...($20k+) and you get left alone...

Driving a lambo w/o a plate...they might ask you to stop for pics...
