Is there anyone in Houston who can install Springs for less???

I have the TEIN S-TECH springs and I was hopping to get them installed however it seems everyone wants a small fortune to install them.

Dealer $450
MAZ-MAX over $400

Other's I've called have no clue and want me to bring in the car.

If you know of any place that can do it for let please let me know.

I'm also willing to trade computer consulting time to anyone willing to install them.

Cheers,

Ben

Sheppard Tire and Auto said they would install the fronts for $80 and the rears for $160. That is $240 which is a reasonable price.

I don't think you will need a new allignment so that should be all the charges.

I bought the Racing Beat for my fronts only (just a small drop). I will be getting those installed shortly.

I will be doing suspension work when i get back. Do it yourself, I'll be happy to work with you. Although I am not an expert any two people can figure out just about anything.

shouldn't be too hard with a spring compressor..

check the technical forums, maybe someone has done a writeup on the swap.

the write up's have been done, with other springs. and spring compressor's are generally free to rent. all u need is two people, a garage, and an afternoon. there seems to be some concern about the bump stop but that is about the only thing that seems to be debated. many have done nothing about this, others give vague advice about how much to trim.

Trunk

You just have to loosen some bolts. You just remove the inside panels and remove a total of 6 bolts per side and then pull them out underneath the car. Not hard at all taking your time and doing it right will take about 4-5 hours.

That is cool I painted my calipers it seemed like there was enough room to just compress and then pull out.

Great. Thanks for the info.

If anyone is installing springs and they need or want to work together let me know. We can do one car then the other--possibly over two different days.

If the above does not workout I'll give Sheppard Tire and Auto a call. Seems they are pretty resonable.

I like doing things myself. Such as my exhaust etc, but I'm a novice when it comes to springs.

Cheers,

Ben

I told you that I would help you install those springs at the last meeting we had.
1st- You don't need a spring compressor.
2nd- It should only take about 3.5 hours.
3rd- If you don't want to mess with it at all, PM me and bring 2 bills, and me and my buddy will do it for you.

I'll do it for $190!!!!!! jk I've done this many times before, and I'd love to watch if you guys want some help.

I just did a total suspension replacement on a 240SX last weekend, and I mean everything....springs, shocks, braces etc...

just make sure you have a good spring compressor

Oh yeah, by the way how long did it take you guys to get it done?
Also, Did you take some measurements before and after?
If you did make sure you take some measurements after they settle to find out your final drop.

punishr, no problem thanks for the offer

No, no measurements. But the drop looks good and the ride quality is on par with stock.

I would estimate about 8 hours elapsed time--longer than we thought. We ran into a few snags and had to nip out several times. If we did it again and had all the tools it could be done in almost half.

Today I had it aligned and it took them an hour and a half! It was way off.

Nope to the photos of the install since there is already some accompanying a DIY thread. Brillo also posted an addition to that thread with some extra tips.

If you would like photos of how it looks now I can take a few when it clears up outside and after it settles a little more.

Overall I’m really happy with the setup.

Cheers,

Ben

Irish8, If you want to you can go to the Gulf Rx8 Forum and look up the thread called tracer pictures of Rx7/Rx8 Meeting, and the Black 8 with the tein stickers on the window is my 8 with the tein s-tech springs.
