TX09RX: Did not have to worry too much about the cattle guards. Started going over them after the VALERO GAS and after the VALERO GAS I could not get any power. I will see you at the Houston meeting on Tuesday.

It was really great meeting a lot of very nice people. Those of you that did not make it, you really missed out on “onehellova” event. I am looking forward to the next one and meeting everyone again, along with others. Thanks to all of the great people I met.
I will not be in Houston on Tuesday not sure where you got that. But thanks for putting me in the Thank you list

you don't even know how bummed I was, I missed a car show in Corpus I'd been looking forward all year too as well. My job changed roles/shifts on me (7pm to 4am...ugh) and I've had some other crap (family/health related) that have kinda' pulled me away from the forums and my hobbies etc., it's been pretty lame but I've kept my head up and my attitude etc. so it's all good.
I'll be making that Christmas run even if I have to make it on 3-4 hours sleep lol, I spent a ton of time last year putting the route together and trying to hit all the cool seasonal spots so we decided to make it an annual drive afterwards due to how much fun we had etc. It's looking like the 13th of December will probably be the day we do it but let me confirm that before making a thread etc.

Major props go to seatown for putting this one together by the way, nice work!

Thanks man! next May is when I am wanting to get the next Kerville run going, so hopefully you can make that one....

This one will be better planned with more sponsors......I think I learned from some of the mistakes I made.

Well I want to make sure the The Texas 8 is the name first before I go buying shirts. But yeah, whoever wants one can buy one.

Sounds like the Majority is for The Texas 8, but I will wait a little and get the logo polished up before we get shirts printed.

I think it would great if I could get one to give to the guy who gave put the maps together originally and let me take them and use them here.

You know, come to think of it, there is no reason to limit this to just the RX forum there are TONS of groups that go out there and this shirt could be sold there or online to many of those groups members.

Sorry for the late entry to the conversation, but here's a few quick "polished" versions of the logo that was already posted. Sorry about the large size of the picture, but wanted to make sure everyone could see it.

Let me know if you have any suggestions and I'll be happy to mess with them. Or, if you have a completely different idea, let me know and I'll see what I can throw together.

One more thing - I didn't know the order you guys drove all the different towns in since I didn't get to go, but I can easily switch the order around. I just put them in order of "educated guess".

I am the least artistic person in the world so I wont attempt to draw this, but how about dropping the word "The" and just use TexaS( in Black) with the capitalization like it is here and the "x" is the cross of the 8 and there is a cap in Red on either end of the black "X" to say the same thing without the words

** Regarding former statements **

I made some statements regarding the proposed name of the event that provoked some serious and emotional responses.

Those posts and their responses have been removed in order not to detract from the overall good of this event.

My thoughts on the matter have been forwarded directly to seatownracer for review.

Thanks Dr.

I think we need to find a way to drop the word "The" from this or find another name

Not 100% sure what you meant by this, specifically the part "there is a cap in Red on either end of the black "X" to say the same thing without the words". Anyways, here's a mock-up of what I think you might be talking about.

Really darn close I was thinking of the x actually being there in a Capital and then a red arc connecting the open top and open bottom to look like an 8 but this does the same thing.

Thanks for the mock up!!

I'm no artist either, but have you considerd doing the S with a design of a road...

you know black, but with yellow stripes, upright, not laid out like my illustration below.

I had considered using an "s curve" for the s in Texas, but don't want to distort the word Texas too much. The eight is a great fit and I thinking substituting any more letters would be a little over the top.

Think I'm gonna have to agree with K man on this one.

Though I am not a big fan dropping the word "The". The new title seems like its missing something.

I think I missed something as to why "The" needed to be dropped.

Why 41?
There were a few other roads..all with numbers so why are the other not iincluded
and why a road number when all those cities have roads running thru them with road numbers
and why 3sisters?
Why are we not consistent? ie either all cities, or all road numbers or road nicks

Why don't we just call it what is was? Texas Statewide Event. TSE or TSWE
The logo can then be an Outline of the state of Texas with a rotorary symbol on it. The center hole can be made to look like a magnifying glass and placed over the "base" city or town - in this case Kerrville with the top pointing which ever direction you wiss.

Does away with the The Texas __" issue.
Makes it RX specific
Makes it TX specific
Makes it Road, City, Timing generic so it is adaptable.

The idea of naming the run something to resemble The Dragon is all together a different thing. These particular routes were put together by a friend of mine whose nickname is STUCK so if you wanted to address who put the roads together that would be how it worked. He used to live there and many groups now use some variation of his layout.

This is getting to be a convoluted process with what appears to be a groupthink, but committee mentality.

My vote is SeaTown coordinated the event - he chose the location - he set the date - he made the phone calls and posted the updates - the least we can do is let him name his event.

So for me, I am on the sidelines on this from here on out.

I do not want this thing to just be mine........It would be cool if we could come up with about 5 names and then do a poll on it, and just go with the one that the majority likes.

i agree with the minority. the name 'Texas 8' is very limiting. its not a bad name. i also say we do something generic, but RX specific. since im not interested in including any other car groups. they can show up. but they played no roles in organization or anything of the event.

I think we need to have name that has something to do with the area that we are doing the driving/event....

Texas Statewide Event just seems to broad.......like what kind of event or who is going to be there, oh and where is it? kinda thing.

3 Sisters Rotary Event or something like that may work. Just an idea, what else can you guys think of?

So what are we naming?
The event?
The area?
The roads traveled?
The group?
If an event then it might go like this
event: Texas 8
run at: the 3 Sisters.

The 3 Sisters is the nickname (I am guessing) of the roads we ran?
If we are naming the event, then seatownracer can name it anything he so wishes since he did all the dirty work.
Either way I will be there next time to run it again.

Note that one link provided led to a bunch of roads/ maps/ where ppl drive. It is not car specific. www.hillcountrydrives.com

They do not have the areas named such as the Dragon has. They just run them.
