Seriously, the point of not changing the meeting date to Sunday was simple. Club meetings for the RX-Club of Houston are planned in advance, not at the last moment.

Our meetings are not only posted here on the RX-8 forum, but on the RX-7 Club forum, the local RX-Club of Houston forum as well as other 6 other Mazda forums. As an event organizer for nearly 10 years with the club I have seen first hand the failure of changing up the plans, Sure it accommodates the whim of the few, and may even turn out to be a better time for those who show up, however for the club as a whole it generally ends up as a failure.

Keep in mind that many of our members take off work or arrange their schedules to accommodate our meetings. Switching up the plans a few days before the meeting when the date is chosen well in advance is not fair to the other members who plan to come out. As it was said before why can't people do both? No harm in that, It's cool that you guys went to the open house and had a great time, also consider that some of us had already attended the open house back in September.

FWIW - I was not in town to attend either meeting.

I heard about the construction this afternoon. I will be having some words with the individual who planned the meeting for not checking out the area first. I can assure you that issues such as construction, road closings or other special events are normally considered for all of our meetings.

Thanks for the feedback, Keith. I was beginning to wonder if you actually deserved your KillJoy handle. Ha!

DrKilljoy = Spoiling the fun since 1988. Wow, you just made me realize that my online persona will turn 20 years old in 4 months. Damn, talk about a killjoy.

On a related note, it sounds like this open house had more going for it that last time. I'm kinda jealous, but not really. I have already contacted the track about an all Mazda day next spring.

In your opinion what kind of $$ would you pay for a weekend of track time?

Hey, an all-Mazda day sounds excellent. As for cost, I work a deal at MSRH where I get a half day of track time for $75, so I personally would not be excited about shelling out too much more than that, especially considering that MSRH has first class facilities that they've paid to have built at their track.

Understood, I also work at MSRH on a semi-regular basis. What do you think about the two tracks versus each other? I've driven both and have my own feelings, but I'd like to hear from others as well. Consider that most 2 day DE/lapping days at MSRH cost about 250+ and single day events cost about 150+.

FWIW - I can assure you that the cost of an event at GSR would be less than the cost of an event at MSRH as a whole. That being said, it is still possible an evet at MSRH might be an alternative too.
