Greetings everyone,
It's time to get together at Barry's as we begin to say goodbye to the sweltering days of summer. Our August meeting will be held August 5th at Barry's Pizza located at the corner of Richmond and Fountainview. As always all Mazda's are welcome to come out and join the fun.
We will have a couple of Mazda giveaways up for grabs. In order to be eligible you must post your RSVP to this thread before August 5th.
-- Don't forget to order your food at the bar and ask them to bring it out. This works much better than the traditional waiter method.
-- We will also be looking for recommendations for our 2009 calendar. So bring your ideas and let's see what we can do.

Meet in the parking lot as early as 6 (the Mazda3 guys are going to meet at 5:30p) and be ready to head inside for some grub sometime shortly after 7p (typically 7:30p) FWIW - This is the same time as we've been having them for years.
Barry's is located at the corner of Richmond and Fountainview as mentioned in my original post above. The physical address is 6003 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX 77057-6207

I feel ya man, I'm just giving you a hard time.
We all had those jobs with the hours that you couldn't give away. As long as your bringing in the green that's all that matters.
FWIW - I'm going to be late to the meeting anyhow. I'm flying back from Chicago on Tuesday and I don't get in until 6:10. (that's if we are on-time) -- I'm going to Lollapalooza and then Monday night going to root for the Astros who will be playing the Cubbies. If we win the series we can pull to just 6 games back.

Greetings everyone,
As most of you already know there is a little bit of a storm brewing in the waters of the coast and the likelihood of the storm making landfall in our area tomorrow is considerable.
Therefore the August club meeting will be cancelled and we will look to reschedule something later in the month.

I would like to officially join your club. I live in the most Eastern part of HARRIS COUNTY. I have a really nice BOOSTED RX-8 that is show quality. I would be honored if you would allow me to join. I would like to receive information about your shows, your meetings and rallys.

I've got no problem with that, however just as a warning there is a reasonable chance of rain again.

I have only seen a couple of people express interest. It was pouring on the SW-side about a hour ago and radar shows the rain moving this way. Personally, I think I'm staying home.
NWS reports the following:
This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Well since Chuck was rolling in all the way from Freeport and 7dust from Alvin I felt obligated to make the short drive from home. We ended up with about 10 people and a oddly disproportionate amount of FD's at this meeting.
Was good seeing those who showed up, we still might try to get together toward the end of the month (on a weekend) but the next regular meeting will be on September 2nd @ Freebird's. (details to be posted soon).

I wasn't able to make it because I had an unexpected emergency I had to take care of. I did drive by the place since I live down the street, saw about 4 or 5 RX7s parked on the side of the restaurant. I was so tempted to stop and say Hello to our rotary brothers but I was in a rush. I did not see any 8s though.
