Road Trip ??

While we were refugees, Slim was talking about a possible road trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama, in March. Nothing definite yet, but Slim, myself and Jenkins were interested. Thought I'd move the idea over here and see if anyone else in DFW would be interested.

Can you hear the beach calling your name?

Yes, Yes... Yes I do!!! I hear the ocean, I got my surf board, and am ready to go! If enough people are serious we could schedule to meet some of the people there. Maybe pitch in and get a condo? Ok, maybe I'm jumping the gun...

By the way, the surf board is just for looks. Hopefully I can surf better than I dance!

Ok, that was unnecessary roughness! By the way, I am not a refugee anymore... just have 2 homes. When one sucks I go to the other.

[note to self: NO MORE DANCING!]

We were all refugees when the site was down and Slim picked Alabama. I'm not sure why. Would you be interested Nyt-Owl?

Do they have casinos in Alabama? Either way, if it is going to be a weekend trip to like Austin, I'm game, I just need a notice of about a week or two to make sure my work schedule allows for it. If you'all are talking about taking a trip and being gone for about a week, then I'm gonna need a notice on that as well. We do our schedules at work 6 weeks at a time.

I don't care where we go, I'm not picky. Name the place and I'm there.

I've only been to the coast off California once, other than that, I've never been to the coast. I wouldn't mind spending some time at the beach if we are talking about taking a few days or I'm up for 6th street for a Friday or Saturday night. If we all end up taking our own 8s then I think that a road trip with a few 8s tailing each other would look pretty cool.

Has anyone put anymore thought into this? Like where to go and when? I'd like to suggest the weekend of March 11. Any problems with this?

I like the 6th street in Austin idea.

Well if Keith and the Houstonites want to meet and we want a nice central'ish location I would say Austin as well. Lake Travis is nice and there are some great roads. The Austin and San Antoine folks are a great bunch. There are even some Waco peeps that I bet would make the trip.
6th Street (as mentioned) is a great night hangout and the lake or a Hill country cruise is nice day and night.
Are you guys wanting to rough it and do the camping out thing or hit a hotel? I am game for either.

Actually there is a plan in the works for a meeting at Lake Sommerville this summer. (FWIW - I cannot do ANYTHING until May) I am taking 5 college classes this semester and it is taking everything I have to keep up with work, life and school. Heck I won't even get to enjoy my spring break this year because half my teachers seem to think that we aren't entitled to a break.

I am listening to the ideas and thoughts expressed however.

Well I think we should pick a weekend that's good for everyone. I suggested that weekend because Slim was thinking March and that's the only weekend I'm not busy (it's a crazy month). We could always push it to April or May.

If we go to Shreveport during the week, I can probably get a couple of rooms comp'd. If we end up going on a weekend, I can probably get at least one room comp'd. I just need some notice to try and arrange things with work and so forth. Let me know. I will also be up for a trip to 6th street.

I'm a no-go during the week. I've got way too much going on at work. In April I'm available starting weekend of the 16th and I have no concrete plans in May. If I say 6th street again, will it help the tally?

Are we shooting for something in march, april, or may. April and May are kind of far away. I'll keep reading and guess what the cencus is. Maybe we should keep a tally going? Dazy, you can be the tally taker. (giving women jobs like this makes them feel important)
