recall work in DFW (Town North)

I just scheduled an appointment to have the 3305G recall performed at Town North Mazda in Richardson. I do not have service experience there, and have heard that Don Marvel has left. I was told that Jim Ottobine is their most experienced rotary mechanic.

I'd appreciate any experience or feedback on Town North service. I haven't been to a Mazda dealer for service since 1995, when my 93 rx7 went out of warranty and I took it to Rotary Performance.

Thanks for any help!

Do a search for Town North, there have been some posts. I had a great experience there last time, they did everything they said they would and even some more... The wrote the service order so that things would get done that needed to be done but they were things that I didn't mention. There is a service writer there with a goatee, and kind of long hair, he is good. Sorry I forgot his name. The only thing that bothered me was there appointment requirement. I have never needed an appointment for any car I have owned for warranty work.

Town North: Make an appointment with Michael or Penny. I've taken my car to them multiple times for oil changes, TSB's ect, and never been disappointed.
Actually, my car's in there for the recalls as we speak, and I have a lovely base lancer to drive in the interim.

They do good work.

PS-DO NOT take ANYTHING to Eldorado in Mckinney for service!
Search my username for my lovely stories regarding them.

I had the heat trim(gas tank) recall done there, along with a few other things. The A/C controller, broken visor and broken e-brake handle. They didn't hassle me at all, but had to order some parts. I've been very happy with their service. They would call every day and let me know where they were on it, if it was to be longer than a day. Budget rental doesn't have any vehicle that's "comperable", so they just let me have anything they had available.

I have my appointment for the gas tank thing and my visor tomorrow morning at Freeman.

Side note: Johnny, the service guy who made my appointment, made a good point. He along with every other Mazda dealership has been seeing RX8s all the time lately because of the recalls. We could have brought them flyers and they could have been handing them out this whole time!! At least we'll get one dealership on board - I'm bringing a stack of them with me tomorrow. :D Hey Coop - why don't you take some to Town North?

Okie dokie, had the heat shield recall work done this morning and it was a piece of pie. I arrived at Freeman at 7:40am and I drove out at 8:50am (1 hr, 10 min, free coffee and donuts BTW ). There was no mention of my exhaust being in the way, nor any other *missing* car parts and they replaced my visor w/o question.

I would suggest being knowledgeable on what exactly needs to be done to your car, or bring your recall paperwork with you, to help speed up the process. This way they can at least start the work while they're digging you up in the computer.

The techs at Freeman have so many recalls that they've refined the process. I'm hoping most of the dealership in the area are the same.
