rear ended and hail damage in one day

All i can say is wow, just wow.

part 1- I'm driving to work this morning, see guy driving kinda' sketchy, move on past him in traffic, up the road a bit a car in front of me sorta' stops short, I stop semi-quickly, no lock up or nothing, sit a few seconds then hear screeching tires (same car..who would have thunk it?) and I get launched onto the car in front of me who then hits another car who then hits another truck. Front of my car is jacked up, back seems ok but car is making some strange noises while I'm driving so I'm thinking my exhaust may have shifted, maybe even frame problems, won't know anything until tomorrow. I can't even pop my hood as the front bumper is wedged on top of it and has it locked shut, oddly enough the stereo setup in the back appears to have survived and didn't miss a beat throughout the whole deal.

part 2- So I make it into work, and what a useless piece of crap I was today. All i could do was think about the wreck, my poor car, and how on earth I was going to pay for my 500$ deductible. I had been in conversation with the insurance company all day, oddly enough the guy who caused everything has the same company as me. Apparently he didn't tell his agent the whole story (ugh, ******* HS kid, oh well, i blame the parents as nobody seems to be doing their f-ing job these days) forgot to mention I was stopped, forgot to mention the cop held him back while letting the rest of us go (hmmm.. ticket maybe?) and the best part is, forgot to mention the other 4 cars!!! wtf?!?! He mentioned running into me, but not the car in front of me + the other 2 that got damaged. So my agent tells me I will have to file this under my policy, and let all the claims people fight it out since all the stories are inconsistent. Well all this goes down, and then it gets really f-in dark outside, starts raining, then while on the phone explaining the details of what just happened, I hear hail outside....I get off the phone in time to see the pieces laying on the gorund from our 2nd story window and they're pretty big so I'm like "ugh...not again!"...well rain clears up so I'm looking out the window at other cars trying to see if anything happened, and i do notice a ding on one of the trucks out there but it's too hard to tell if that's hail damage or not. Get out to my car to go home but it's soaked and I can't see nothing so I'm like "maybe I escaped".....well no I didn't as I have several large dings here and there, one really nasty one on my roof.

so I declare this the worst day of the year (possiblyone of the ones of my life as well) for me so far, and I apologize to whatever other-worldy presence I apparently pissed off, I'm sorry, whatever I did, it won't happen again, please don't kick my car's *** anymore today, please? I get it, I surrender, you win etc etc.

Sorry to hear about today. Stay home and don't leave the house until tomorrow. Bad things come in three.

Awww, canary...that sucks. Maybe you will have a weekend that will make up for it. I don't have a garage, so I am just waiting for one of those Texas hail days (I got a brand new truck hit about 7 years ago in College Station ...caused $3500 worth of damage with baseball sized hail). Hope it all gets figured out for you.

Kids are notorious for giving faulty stories. They don't want their parents to find out that it was their fault. Keep fighting...sounds like you have a strong case.

thanks, I believe everything happens for a reason, so even though I can't see it now I know this will turn out good, I'm going to go pass one of my Microsoft exams tomorrow just to spite this, and who knows, maybe I can swing a Mspeed front or some shaved handles or something out of everything.

Wow... this totally sucks. I feel for you man. AWWW, this really sucks.

Only thing i can say is... don't worry too much about the deductable. Most shops that are going to this much work can usually work the deductable out with you. The place that did my hail damage on my last car did that for me.
Sounds like you have a very solid case, regardless if you have the same insurance companies... you are definetely not at fault.

Man, I couldn't believe how big that hail was! I thought it was going to bust through my ceiling. Luckily my car was in the garage.
I hope your car gets fixed soon.

Here's a few pics from the local news site.
It happened around 5:30pm. I can only imagine how many people got hit stuck in traffic!

you know what ive always wondered about inventing... a car-cover like device thats padded/armored.

Maybe something like a bunch of egg-crates (the foam kind) from walmart patched together to form a protective layer for your car duing hail storms. Granted it woulndt be fun to have to run out and put it on your car duing a hail storm, but it would save you thousands in damage. (im thinking doing this would be very practical if say you are having to live in an apartment with no covered parking etc etc.

shoot, egg crate nothing, I'm going to develop an invisible force field and go all out star wars style, maybe I can figure out a way to make exhaust fumes power it or something

Dang Canary, sorry to hear it. I got caught yesterday at 1431 when it was blowing up. Small hail pieces hit me, but I don't see any damage. I was checking the radar and saw that mess coming out from the SW and bailed from work.

San Marcos and the Arboretum seem to have gotten the worst of it. I was in the market for a beater truck. Maybe I can get one with a lot less miles already pre-dented now. Hmmm....

yeah i was at Oak Knoll/183 area, we were watching it out of a 2nd story window and the pieces were bouncing off cars as high as the window, but today I feel better as despite all of yesterday's issues, I went and took an MS cert exam (70-220) and completely killed it. It was a design exam which uses case studies etc., supposedly one of the more difficult ones, and out of a possible 1000, I got a 913! i picked up Tourist Trophy on the way home as a little reward and will now be sitting in front of the TV for a ferw hours doing nothing but riding virtual badass motorcycles, if nobody has done it yet, amybe I'll shoot up a little review later.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. I'd be physically I'll.
You shouldn't have to file the insurance under yours. I'm assuming since a cop was there that an accident report was filed?
The accident report should back you up as far as the claim goes.

Insurance co's always bullshit you first. Keep fighting, and I seriously hope you don't have farmers.
