Thanks guys! I appreciate the encouraging words.

I'm fine... nothing happened to me (Thank God). Tiff, or anyone that has
had similar problems, can you point me in the right direction as far as the
insurance part of it goes? I mean... I've submitted the claim and I'm waiting on
my insurance to contact me... but what happens? How does it all work out?

Thanks again.

The insurance adjuster will contact you and tell you when he/she will inspect your car. They'll call you after the inspection and tell you what they found. They'll ask where to send the money, directly to you or to the shop where the car will be repaired?

How do you want your 8 repaired? Back to stock or aftermarket?

If you go back to stock, your insurance can recommend a Mazda dealership to do the repairs (where no adjuster needs to come out b/c the insurance company trusts the dealership). If they don't have a preferred dealership, you tell the insurance where you're taking the car. My insurance claim gave me one free tow.

If you want aftermarket, you can go through the dealership or a private party. Slim and I went with a private party, Martin. There are pros and cons to both. Logic leads me to believe that the dealership will probably only order and install true Mazdaspeed parts, costing mucho dinero but it will be done quick. Using a private party will allow you to save a little money and maybe get more mods (depending on the original damage of course), but it will defintely take longer.

From the pics I've seen, most of the damage seems to be in the rear. Is this true? Unless you want an aftermarket rear only, I'd personally take it to the dealership and have it repaired there. You already had the OEM spoiler so that should get replaced too. There seems to be too many things damaged that HAVE to be repaired with true parts, like the rear windshield.

Just my $.02. :o

Thanks guys... appreciate the info.

I want to get the aftermarket kit put on for sure. I figure WTH right?
Did you have Martin order the parts for you? or Do I order the parts?

What if I go with the dealership? how much $ will come out of my pocket?
or is it still only 500 deductible? Just wondering since u mentioned Mucho Dinero.
The Damage that I'm concerned about is the actual "metal" part of the back.
can it be reshaped? The back windshield and the entire rear driver side
is F'd ^ . I'm also concerned of my wheels and tires and definetely an
alignment.

I want my car ASAP too... but I trust martin. so.. i dunno. I guess I'll just have to
wait and find out What's up. What would we do without Martin? We sure keep
him busy :p

If you go through Martin, he orders the parts with your assistance. If you know someone who can get you the parts even cheaper than he can, then you order and Martin will reimburse you. Otherwise, Martin will order them.

If you go through the dealership, my guess is that you'll end up paying whatever the price difference is between the cost of stock parts and what you're wanting to install. You'll end up paying your deductible too. (Ex: stock bumper $900, MS bumper $1200, you pay $300 -- I just made up these numbers)

Wait until the adjuster takes a look at the car to see what the insurance company has in mind. How ever much money he/she thinks it'll take to replace the damage will be approximately how much money to have to work with. (Ex: stock bumper $900, MS replica bumper $300, you save $600. You pay Martin to paint/install and whatever is left over is yours to play with.) The adjuster will more than likely want the wheels repaired unless their visibly crapped out. You find out whether they're "out of round" when they're taken to be fixed (maybe more money here too as stock rim is $510 each!).

If you take it to Martin, he will also make sure the adjuster didn't miss anything and if so, submit a supplement for more money for the needed repairs.

Out of curiosity, who's your insurance company?

Oh man, that hurts to look at. Just keep telling yourself "it's just a car, it's just a car...."

Hope you're all fixed and back on the road soon.
The good news is that the back end has a lot less complexity than the front end, when it comes to parts buying.

Also glad that you weren't hurt.
It could have been much worse if the wife and kiddos were in the car too.

OH MY GOD!!!! I step away from the group for a little while and you guys are running amuk. Those pictures really hurt, from reading the thread, I'm glad that no one got hurt, especially the kids. So let me see, there are about 8 people in the Tuesday Fort Worth group, out of those, 3 have wrecked. That's a really high percentage, but on the bright side, there were 0 injuries which is what really counts. Sorry Joey for your loss.

thanks bryan.

I was by myself when this happened, and yes the best thing is that nothing happened
to me.

Oh and 4 of us have wrecked (EG, Tiff, Slim, and me) so basically 50% of us? Who's next?

By the way, the insurance guy came to appraise the damage and he said more than likely
it will be 4 to 5 thousand. They already talked to Martin, but I dunno if they gave him
a price yet. Martin told me to bring the car to his shop on Monday, so til then I can still
drive my car. I'll update again as soon as I can.

HAHA...

I'm taking my car to Martin's shop in a little while. I hope he can give me
good news. The insurance gave me an estimate and it's a pretty big # of $.
Tiff, I might need to talk to you.
