Actually, I'm not too upset. This past summer I was looking at selling the 8 and getting an audi S4 and I found one in dallas that seemed perfect but I just ran out of time due to moving into my new apartment and school starting.

Now that I have my new exhaust, my dad says my car is too loud and smelly so he said he'll help me out by fronting me the money and even pitch in a bit more than what I might get out of my car. So I wont have to worry about selling my car and getting a new one within a really short period of time. With his contributions I'll be able to get an S4 with lower miles and better condition than I was looking at previously so it was kind of hard to pass up.

How much of the exhaust? Midpipe and catback or just catback?

Not sure if I'm selling the intake yet. I'm mostly worried about things that a buyer might not like. At this time I'm mostly concerned about the nitrous and exhaust since it's probably too loud for most people. If I start doing stuff like the intake then I might just start considering a complete part out and return it to stock. Still a bit off so we'll see.

That sucks dude, let me know when you are closer to actually selling stuff. S4 is anice ride just make sure you get a warranty because parts are very, very expensive.

Not sure if I can still get a warranty on a car that old. It's definitely a fun car and I can't say I'm too upset. I still love the 8, but I'm the type that wants something different after a while and so the S4 is a good change.

I looked hard at the S4 when I bought my 8 and the funny thing is that I picked the RX-8 due to reliability concerns. Now, three engines later, .

lol, that's luck sometimes. I just passed 50k and I have to admit that I do worry about that sometimes. The S4's I'm looking at are a bit higher mileage, but it looks like the engines typically last a bit longer. Since I'm looking for a stage 3, it will have somewhat newer turbos so that wont be an issue for a bit. Like you said though, things dont always go as you would expect.

I am sad to see the 8 go, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to getting an S4.

I started on my engine today! I got it out, tomorrow morning I will start swapping everything over to the new engine. Im not sure if to take the lightened flywheel off the old engine and put it on the new one....

Nice, not sure if I'd trust my new engine on a barrel though, Definitely yes to the lightened flywheel.

But that's fairly low to the ground so it would be less likely to fall, and even if it did, any damage would be much less than from that height. I guess as long as it's stable and you're careful then you can do whatever you want. I'd just hate to see it fall from that height.

So I was driving to class today. I was driving down UTSA and about to come up to my turn when I noticed the SUV behind me flash its headlights. I wasn't sure what it was for or if it was directed at me, but the light was red at my turn. So once I get to the light, I turn to look next to me since the SUV was about to line up with me. I wasn't sure if they wanted to tell me something but I figured I'd check. Just about when they were coming into view, WHAM! I feel a sudden shock from behind and now my car is angled slightly to the right and at least a foot or 2 further forward than I was before.

I never got to figure out if the SUV wanted to tell me something, but I did get a lot of information from the girl in the maxima that rear ended me.

view of most of the damage:

Something wrong with the suspension... didn't have that much camber before:

All the crap that's in my trunk now and some of the damage on the inside:

So, with any situation like this, you need to at least get one laugh out of it. She said she was trying to slow down, but because of the rain and such, she just wasn't able to stop in time. She said she tried to move to the side so she could avoid my car and just go in the grass or something, but obviously she didn't quite make it. What I find funny about this, is the fact that she completely avoided my single exit exhaust since she only hit the passenger side. I also had to laugh a bit because my umbrella was in my trunk and when I went to move it, I found out that it had stabbed through the inside of my trunk so I had to kind of wedge it out.

As of now, it seems everyone was fine and that it was mostly just car damage and being shaken up.

Definitely sucks that my car will have a crash on it's history now... that's going to hurt the resale

Take it to Laredo Body behind the Porsche dealer on Fredricksberg. Talk To Mike De Leon, they do top notch work on Porsche's, BMW's, etc. Tell him Scott from Dr. Samaniego's office sent you.

Thanks, I was about to ask if anyone knew a good place. Their insurance company is sending me to caliber collision tomorrow but they have some bad reviews. I'm definitely getting a second quote at least.

If there is frame damage I hope they call it a total... I'm really not looking forward to what this will do to further decrease my resale value.

Looking at it again 9the pics were not all showing up earlier for some reason), you may be okay. I look at a ton of wrecked cars due to all the accident victims we treat and so I have a pretty good eye but I would have to look at the undercarriage to see.

But Loredo collision only has two locations, one behind Boerne mercedes and the one behind the Porsche dealer. They have fixed some of my bosses exotics and many of his DD cars to perfection so I can vouch for the work.

yep those s4's are really nice, a friend of mine from work has one....i gotta say..i would definitely get one, once those turbos spool up, ur in ur seat the rest of the way! ....he also knows a shop that does good work on them for fairly good prices....

sorry to hear about the accident man...that looks bad! hope it all turns out good though..

TX RX8 meet in my front yard

You should bring all of your RX8's to my front yard. I've got the room for at least 7 or 8 in the grass and two more on the drive way. Then we can grill and stuff just chill out. Let me know. If you need the garage to work on your car I have tools but no jack.
