Sup SARX, what's crackin'?

My dad was still in Baja Mexico Off roading so I had to drive all the way to Waco and back Sunday because the hood on my mom's Altima popped open and she could not get it to shut. It was a 5 minute fix, the damn latch assembly was just frozen up for some reason. I cleaned it all out with carb cleaner and that freed it up.

Yeah I have not heard back from Kane so we shall see when he gets back. We shoudl go do a dyno session on the same day. We can get tbk to dyno his R3 to give a baseline of what a stock RX-8 is putting down on the same dyno under the same conditions.

R3 has significantly less hp than my car.

I'm down for a dyno/compression day.

Also there is a good chance I'm going to bail on wekfest and go to sevenstock 15.

Or I might bail on all of it and go to a place with white sandy beaches and pretty senoritas.

Yeah but knowing what a stock car is putting down on that particular dyno will give us a good baseline I think. A compression test is fine but this is cheaper and I think if someone puts down less than stellar numbers then they can decide on a compression test.

I thought about doing sevenstock, I actually really wanted too but I'm just too broke right now. My daughter is going to NY for a month so that is going to be a bit of money I am sure.

to some extent I agree but the dyno will only confirm you have an issue not ID if it is compression or not.

you guys let me know though because I am serious about doing the test and if anyone else will benefit I will get wiht NYCGPS vs going to a local mazda

ah....a month.....yea not cheap

True, but if you put down great numbers then you can be pretty sure it is not a compression issue.

So my new Mazda 3 has a touchscreen DVD player from Rosen. First off, are those decent? Second, how do I bypass the parking brake having to be pulled to watch a movie? Traffic gets boring sometimes. Is installing a rear/back up camera hard? I know cornholio is an audio master.

In dash? Did the dealer do it? Usually they are wired to the shifter or parking break but a specific model would help so we can find the installation instructions.

It's a Rosen made for a Mazda 3 specifically. I didn't see a model number anywhere. It was installed by an audio place for the dealer. It's connected to the parking brake for sure.

Shady says drive with your parking brake up slightly.

Alternatively you can find the wire that looks out of place by your parking brake. Pull up on the brake measure the resistance at that wire. Disengage the brake to make sure it goes open. Purchase a resistor that matches that resistance and solder it in.

The first solution is much easier.
