Well my current plan is to go to UT but ill be starting at UT's sister school UTA (Arlington) then transferring in either after the first or second year... Give it some time and if everyone goes according to plan you will have another 8 member there...

Sawheet! There's about 50 million 8's up here, they are either stock or stay off the forums.

There is a guy who just moved into my complex from Michigan hes got an 8 with an ms spoiler painted half black and red. I tried finding him on the Michigan threads I don't think he posts much. I haven't formally run into him yet to introduce myself mainly becuase I rarely leave my house lol.

Austin has a ton of stuff practically every weekend, especially this weekend. They're having the Odyssey Texas Toast Jam right now, BMX'ers from all over the country are downtown right now tearing it up, even if you don't like bmx it'd still be fun to go down there and watch. There's car meets every Saturday near Lakeline mall, another group gathers at Cabela's in Buda (about 10 minutes south of Austin), there's live music every day of the week, there's South Congress, there's several car clubs (Z's, G35's, S2k etc.) around town that host events and drives as well, there's CArs & Coffee in Leander every month, shoot, that's not even mentioning Lake Travis, Mansfield Dam, and 360 bridge which has one of the biggest wakeboard scenes in the country. You can also check out www.motoraustin.com for car stuff, they post all the area events.

I've been stuck repairing my truck all weekend or I'd be out right now having fun, my car is minus an ignition system right now but it's on its way thanks to BHR's amazing customer service so hopefully by today I'll have the truck done and this week I should have the car done too.

My only complaint about living here in Austin is it's run by idiots, they just passed a bill that pays for "loaner bicycles" for everybody, problem is the amount of money they passed works out to about 6k PER bicycle, I could spend 6k on eBay and build up about 20 decent bikes that would easily last a few years, it's ridiculous, they spend spend spend here on things that make absolutely no sense, instead of spending towards helping businesses thrive and making life easier on people, they do things that make a select group of people happy while the rest of us suffer and have to pay for it (sounds alot like our country right now lol) and it's maddening.

Austin's scene in general is pretty killer no doubt. The night life couldn't be any better.

I was referring specifically to the 8 scene, I'm used to Install days and small meets and what not. not a fan of the large meets as my car isn't a show car at all. Austin just seems to be lacking in that department.

I'd agree with that, even reaching out from TexasRxs I don't get to meet many 8 owners, most folks show up in 7's or something else. You don't have to have a show car for the larger meets by the way, you can show up in anything, I've seen everything from best of show quality to best of nothing But yeah, I miss days where a bunch of friends would meet at someone's house and turn wrenches, it was a huge thing back in my mini-truck days, I was in clubs with 30-40 something members and we were always helping each other, just don't get to do that anymore, sucks.

that's pretty awesome, unless of course you have an auto

I've spent my entire weekend trying to fix my truck and it's all down to a single oil line fitting thing,

These things are AWFUL, I'd be done by now except for one of these located at the bottom of the radiator that I can't get the line back in to save my life, the other problem is the line doesn't quite line up with the new radiator so perhaps I bent it removing the old one (ugh), either way, hoping to find a tubing bender tomorrow and see if I can tweak it to line up and finish this thing. I've done the water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, and radiator all in one day, only thing stopping me is this @#$% fitting not going back, maybe I should just buy some hose and hose clamps and rig it that way, don't know if it would matter or not as it's just my daily driver.

true, but you know how it is, shouldn't have to drive out of town just to find some tools to play with, just doesn't seem right
