the last few times my time here has been short and i didnt really have time for anything. this time tho, back in town for winter break. a whole freaking month. so we need to party till we're purple.

anyway, shooting. i'm a bit too cheap for gun ranges, and i know how not to get myself killed. in lubbock theres a great big sand pit field thing on the outskirts of town where everybody goes to shoot stuff up. shoot some clays etc etc.

is there something like that around here? just a great big field to go shoot some stuff out in the boonies.

Anyway, Not sure what you were expecting. It's Christmas. Everyone has plans or will have plans that tie them up for at least the next week.

I was thinking about maybe putting a meet together either the first or second weekend in January.

Lets set something up for the first week of January...I'm getting bored with just meeting with the DFW Mazdas group...They aren't the same.

 

DFW Mazdas = Lame. Same as the SA group of Texas Mazda Club.

 

Thats because they think their mazda 3 is a high performance race car...

 

Yeah I had one guy with a four cylinder Mazda 6 tell me that he was pushing 400WHP with bolt ons naturally aspirated. I told him that it was impossible and asked him what he had done to it and he said it had a chip and the exhaust from a V-6. I am not shitting you, I just walked away from him. I experienced many similar situations when I had my turbocharged Civic back in the day.

I ended up going with the Mazdaspeed exhaust. Its a twin catback, not annoyingly loud when just driving around, and a good whine/pop at the higher revs.

Most of the people back in DC tended to have the HKS Exhaust on there, I found this one to be a little less obnoxious.


Oh, and in reply to the new engine thing, when I got the car back the guy at the dealer claimed it was new, instead of just a refurb; I pressed him if it was a new housing, old rotors, retooled, etc., trying to get specifics and he kept claiming the engine itself was a new one, and to expect a break-in period. Soooooo shrug? As long as this one doesn't explode, compress horribly wrong, or fall apart, I'll consider it a win.

Also, if there's a meet I've got time to kill, introductions to make, and "new" engines to show off.

Kelly is going to stay in Dallas until she is vested in her 401K at her job, then she's going to start looking down in SA...at least that's the plan.
