Angry Nnnnnooooooooo...i Don't Want On The List!!!

well i went and did the thing i have feared the most....i wrecked my 8...i rear ended a lady while we were in a funeral procession...horrible day...went to the sadest funeral i've ever been to, then my beautiful 8 gets hurt...but i'm lucky, i'd give up my 8 any day if i never had to go to another funeral like this one...

and yes i'm alright, the damage is minimal to say the least...front bumper is gone, hood little bent and was leaking coolant...so much for my cheap insurance..sigh i know the guy at the body shop real well, he'll take care of me and hopefully it will be done before the BBQ... i'll have pictures soon

Man, I feel your pain, too! The "Recycled 8" club just isn't fun to be in. I'm glad to hear that you weren't hurt.

Since the damage was minimal, hopefully your baby will be fixed in no time. You've got 4 weeks until BBQ.

quick question...i bought my car WITH the mazdaspeed kit...well i got in the wreck and now the body shop says that they have to purchase what is standard on the car, which would be the $500 basic front bumper..so i would have to pay the different for the MS bumper!! i need help with this ASAP. is there anyway around this!? its going to cost me double now if this happens!! &%$#

That sounds like BS to me. The insurance should pay for replacing EXACTLY what was on your car. Mine is.

Yes, even if it's aftermarket. If you purchased w/the MS kit (from a dealership, right?) then you should have receipts of the purchase, showing that the kit was in the original deal.

My insurance asked me what kind of aftermarket items I have put on the car when I notified them of my car purchase. Based on this I would say unless your insurance company is either notified of your upgrades or are being very nice to you, they do not have any obligation to replace the MS bumper.

Insurance companies make their quote based on factory spec as shown on their computer screen when they input your VIN, then discounts added to reflect safety features, driving record, etc. Nowadays you don't even need to describe the car, a VIN check will tell them what it is and what it has. Like I said earlier you maybe up **** creek on this one but hopefully they can be nice and cover it fully like what ALWAZL8 got.

Lol, you are talking to the PROs when it comes to wrecked 8's Wedge. :D I can think of 7 owners off the top of my head that have wrecked their 8 since the beginning of the year -- this is in the DFW area ALONE.

They make their quotes based off of the VIN, but if you can show proof of purchase of aftermarket mods, then you should be fine. Also, Johnnyo bought his 8 from a dealership w/the mods already installed so it should be included in the dealership's records.

yes i have proof, but your right wedge, thats exactly what the body shop told me, unless otherwise specified by the insurance company the body shot HAS to purchase parts that listed as stock for the car, if i want parts that are more expensive i have to pick up the difference...so now its up insurance company...anyone dealt with State Farm before??

I'm with State Farm... the other guy didn't have enough insurance to cover the damages on mine so my Uninsured Motorist is having to pick up the difference. The stuff that I've added since I got my car (that was damaged in the wreck) is all being replaced. I just had to provide the info on prices and where to get it. I think your body shop is jacking with you.
