Nnnnnooooooooo...i Don't Want On The List!!!

well i went and did the thing i have feared the most....i wrecked my 8...i rear ended a lady while we were in a funeral procession...horrible day...went to the sadest funeral i've ever been to, then my beautiful 8 gets hurt...but i'm lucky, i'd give up my 8 any day if i never had to go to another funeral like this one...

and yes i'm alright, the damage is minimal to say the least...front bumper is gone, hood little bent and was leaking coolant...so much for my cheap insurance..sigh  i know the guy at the body shop real well, he'll take care of me and hopefully it will be done before the BBQ... i'll have pictures soon

AForce8 08-24-2005 08:47 PM

I'm sorry to hear that another has joined this little mini-club!! :( i hope your baby gets repaired quickly. (me crossing my fingers) :o

BLUE_SIX 08-24-2005 09:52 PM

AW man!!!

Dude thats gotta suck! A funeral and your car gets screwed up?! For the love of God, whats next? Gonna rain on you? Sorry to hear about your car, but we're Glad you're okay. So how did this happen?

BTW Welcome to the Crashed RX-8 Club! :(

dazygirl415 08-24-2005 09:58 PM

I feel your pain. :( I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I hope your baby gets fixed soon!!

ALWAZL8 08-24-2005 10:43 PM

Man, I feel your pain, too! The "Recycled 8" club just isn't fun to be in. I'm glad to hear that you weren't hurt.

Since the damage was minimal, hopefully your baby will be fixed in no time. You've got 4 weeks until BBQ.

dgerald 08-24-2005 10:49 PM

Sorry to hear that bro! Hope the repairs go swiftly. You got a unique setup for these parts and it needs to be back on the road, makin' everyone jealous, ASAP! :-)

johnnyo 08-25-2005 06:47 AM

thanks guys, going to call the body shop and let him know i want it done right and quickly...

i was in the funeral procession line heading to the cemetery and some dumbass 5 cars ahead of mean is driving like an idiot...sooo everyone slams on their brakes and i guess the laws of physics didn't allow me enough room to stop..so i *bumped* the car in front of me...oh well guess its time to take that defensive driving course!

johnnyo 08-25-2005 10:10 AM

 quick question...i bought my car WITH the mazdaspeed kit...well i got in the wreck and now the body shop says that they have to purchase what is standard on the car, which would be the $500 basic front bumper..so i would have to pay the different for the MS bumper!! i need help with this ASAP. is there anyway around this!? its going to cost me double now if this happens!! &%$#

ALWAZL8 08-25-2005 10:12 AM

That sounds like BS to me. The insurance should pay for replacing EXACTLY what was on your car. Mine is.

even if its aftermarket??

dazygirl415 08-25-2005 10:26 AM

Yes, even if it's aftermarket. If you purchased w/the MS kit (from a dealership, right?) then you should have receipts of the purchase, showing that the kit was in the original deal.

SWEET

wedge357 08-25-2005 10:44 AM

My insurance asked me what kind of aftermarket items I have put on the car when I notified them of my car purchase. Based on this I would say unless your insurance company is either notified of your upgrades or are being very nice to you, they do not have any obligation to replace the MS bumper.

Insurance companies make their quote based on factory spec as shown on their computer screen when they input your VIN, then discounts added to reflect safety features, driving record, etc. Nowadays you don't even need to describe the car, a VIN check will tell them what it is and what it has. Like I said earlier you maybe up sh!t creek on this one but hopefully they can be nice and cover it fully like what ALWAZL8 got.

dazygirl415 08-25-2005 01:38 PM

Lol, you are talking to the PROs when it comes to wrecked 8's Wedge. :D I can think of 7 owners off the top of my head that have wrecked their 8 since the beginning of the year -- this is in the DFW area ALONE.

They make their quotes based off of the VIN, but if you can show proof of purchase of aftermarket mods, then you should be fine. Also, Johnnyo bought his 8 from a dealership w/the mods already installed so it should be included in the dealership's records.

yes i have proof, but your right wedge, thats exactly what the body shop told me, unless otherwise specified by the insurance company the body shot HAS to purchase parts that listed as stock for the car, if i want parts that are more expensive i have to pick up the difference...so now its up insurance company...anyone dealt with State Farm before??

dazygirl415 08-25-2005 02:46 PM

I'm with Allstate. :(

BigOLundh 08-25-2005 06:17 PM

this is the worst story i have ever heard. so sorry man. Hope your feeling better.

canaryrx8 08-25-2005 07:08 PM

State farm replaced my clear corners, sorry to hear about your mess, I went through something almost as bad back in April, came out of it ok though so here's hoping the same goes for you :)

I'm with State Farm... the other guy didn't have enough insurance to cover the damages on mine so my Uninsured Motorist is having to pick up the difference. The stuff that I've added since I got my car (that was damaged in the wreck) is all being replaced. I just had to provide the info on prices and where to get it. I think your body shop is jacking with you.

johnnyo 08-26-2005 04:42 PM

haven't heard yet from insurance company...but here are some pictures...

and notice how that middle part of the bumper is completely gone...i ripped it off in anger..its now in my trunk, i'll put that piece in my office to always remind me of my stupidity :o

update: just talked to body shop, radiator is fine! will be some plastic pieces, bumper and hood! i'll know monday if insurance will pay for bumper, body shop guy sounded like they 'should' *fingers crossed*
