Sounds like mazd. If the performance parts isnt mazdaspeed then the wont warrenty it. What i woulld have done was keep the old factory part and as soon as something to the car happens like that i would put the oem (including muffler) back on and take it to them. I dont think they would have know and wouldnt try to get around it. Surpised he told u that.

r3
this is in no way a flame post... i'm not ridiculing anybody
but let's talk about this r3 for a second. maybe i'm misinformed
the story of my whole entire life has been getting a new car and then a new version comes out and i drool over it for the rest of my life. but when it comes to the r3, it looks like an rx8 with a different front bumper and 2 cricles in the tail lights instead of one..
i honestly like my rx8 better than the r3. am i the only one

I agree. I'm not seeing what is so special abou thr r3? With after market parts you could make the RX8 look just as good if not better. Guess it's all a matter of opinion. Different strokes for different folks.
Flooded....AARRRGGG!!!
Well,
I finally managed to do it.
I flooded my 8. I pulled it in the garage cold and ...doh!...shut it off cold.
Two days later, I tried to start it and ..... NO GO.
I tried the deflood procedure.... NO GO.
I changed the plugs with new ones, pulled the fuel relay, and crancke the car with now plugs to clear the cylinders. ..... NO GO.
Soooo I then spent a day making the car "suitable" to tow to the dealership and let the battery charger refresh the battery over night.
One last try before I called the tow truck. I cranked for several LONG periods with the gas pedal to the floor. The turned everything loose and tried a proper start. Varoom...stutter...choke...cough...a cloud of smoke and a hearty HIGH HOE SILVER.
Yup it started. Now I must admit that the engine has a bit of a tick that wasn't there before. I belive that John had the same think happen, before he had to replace the engine. I'm just waiting for the death blow that surely will come. Thank goodness for the 100K warantee.
Later.
OH, after going through 4 sets of ignition coils I went with MazdaManiacs suggestion to use LS2 coils from a late model Corvette. Definitly the right way to go. Very solid coils: cheap, obtainable, and relatively easy to upgrade. I now have a set of stock mazda coils, stock vette coils, and new MSD multi-spark LS2 coils, all set up on the stock coil brackets and easily swapped. I might put up a pic if anyone is interested.

i flooded my car like 2ce.. once was because i was putting it in the garage to avoid a hail storm..
everything was fine because i noticed it was flooded and i got it unflooded within a couple of minutes. only once was it flooded so bad i had to actually crank it over several times.
the secret is taking out the fuse to the fuel pump. does WONDERS!
anyway, try a can of that Mazda brand RX8 rotary engine cleaner.

Got my 8 back today and guess what it just needed new coil packs an plugs. Just as I figure. That bunch of crap bout low compression they probably made it up, cuz I ask one of the service guys an he said the tech who work on my car at that time said it was ok. But I got it back and it runs great so I'm satisfy.
cool cool.
well i dunno how i did it, but my brand new lg tv is broken........and my little cousin lost the receit so i have no way of getting it warrentied when the repair man comes......i love my ******* life....

I just installed the MSD LS2/LS7 upgrade coils as per MazdaManiac. WOW what a change. Noticalbe more power from top to bottom. I've tried pretty much every ignition for the 8's out there, and this one is definitly the best. WAY better than the $800 Plazma Coils of OKdata, doesn't use (and burn out) the stock coils like HKS DLIII. MazSport is good also, but more expensive. I put mine together for about $450...that includes Stock bracket, GM wire harness with plugs for coils and both sides of the collector plug. I can simply unplug the whole assembly and swap it for the stock assembly in about 10 minutes. I also tried a set of stock LS2/LS7 coils. These are a great alternative to the stock 8 coils, as they are electrically identical, but much more durable. I've now burnt out (4) sets of coils in a year and a half. Each time, the end came about about 9000 RPMS, that seems to be where the stock ones give out. They usually only crap out one or two at a time.
Anyways. I strongly suggest the MSD MultiSpark Coils...give them a try. I can provide some direction if the forum isn't clear. Also, I could provide some pics or local install assistance.

Does the r3 have the same 1.3 engine? I was looking up in the new car buyers guide and there it says something about a 2 liter V something? Is that right? Did they put the engine in it from a mazdaspeed 3 or something?
And if anyone wants it I decided to sell my RP supercat. I'm bout to go with a diferent exhaust setup. I'll let it go for $150. It cost $395.00 new.
