May 5-6 Delta Region SCCA Novice School & Autocross! Belle Chasse, LA
#27
Well as a close to this thread, it was a great school. Weather was perfect and we had 3 RX-8's show up.
Monique with her fancied up red GT
Mark in a go fast grey GT
Me in bone stock Sport (Spare tire and Recaro child seat)
Everybody made huge improvements in their driving skills including me as an instructor But I think the biggest improvement was Mark's Girl Friend who only learned to drive a stick 2 hours before. By the end of the day she was launching the car very smoothly and quickly adapted a nice smooth driving style which got much quicker as the day went on.
I got some pics but haven't had a chance to down load them yet.

Yeah Saturday was fun. Joe- sorry you couldn't be there Sun and Mark, where were you?
It was nice being back out at Belle Chasse and seeing so many familiar faces after being gone for so long.
Since my car behaved so poorly on Sat, I didn't even run Sun. I guess it was a bad idea to put those old street tires on so I wouldn't mess up my new wheels. And Joe I'm concerned that you feel your car accelorates better than mine since I've a few performance mods & yours is bone stock. I need to investigate that. No way the weight diff of my GT vs your base should make that much of a difference. Also, I need to figure out a way to get to my sport koni's to adjust them?! The fronts are easil accessed under the strut bar but after taking all the panels out in the trunk, the tops of the rears were behind metal plates. Is everyone having to cut holes out to get to the top of these? It handled ok on Saturday doing individual drills but once we put it all together as a course, on full soft I had less rebound than stock! Everytime I went over the crest or something where weight was transferred, the rear end wanted to break loose. Of course Hassan did okay in it but he also ran like a 33 in Darrin's friggin S4 and can drive an entire course sideways in anything! lol.
So the highlight of my day Sat was our "Hot Flashing" (haaahaha- send me those pics!) and finally drinking a cold beer after such a long, hot, sticky day and being disappointed in my car. I was excited about having a "BETTER" set-up than before since I've all these new mods. Sigh...
I did take a few pics including Mark & his ladyfriend sleeping under the canopy. I'll post them later.

Son what is your Alibi?

I beat the EVO
Cinco de mayo took its toll on me, i was auto-x'd out after all the seat time and runs on Saturday, thought you were going to beat me Monique
Don't feel too bad I believe the only car there that ran faster was Hassan's Civic :-p
The OTS Koni Yellows can't be adjusted in the rear unless you've had them converted for external adjustability which is pretty pricey. You have take the shock off the car depress the input shaft and rotate it.
Pics up of the day yet anywhere?

Um, you really believe that? Should have hung around when the big kids took the course. We were all there to help you guys through a NOVICE school.
Every car that ran after you left was faster than a 33.0 S2000, Audi S4, Civic EF.
YOU GOT BEAT BY A CIVIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're not serious are you? I left as things were closing down... Darren didn't pull off anything better than a 35.5 and if you mean hassan's civic as that was the only one there that i recall I don't feel bad....
If you are serious than I refuse your reality and substitute my own and say that this was all a progression of the timer becoming more inaccurate later in the day post me leaving and eventually breaking on Sunday.

Hey Mark. Joe's right. And if I hadn't been dealing with a flooded house I'd have chimed in sooner when I first read the email for your response. Yes- you were in fact one of the fastest cars SATURDAY at the NOVICE school. You, myself & Hassan should have been the fastest of all the NOVICE drivers considering we were the only ones NOT NOVICE. Also, when the day is ending is usually when the big kids play. Esp when everyone sticks around to help out or when it's a school and the big kids are busy teaching and not running. And had you shown up Sunday I'm afraid you'd have had your *** handed to you (I would've too. Too rusty AND my car handled like s***). Although, if I had a dozen practice runs instead of the 2 I actually took on Sat I just may have beaten you. My scale is usually 2 sec behind Hassan in my own car which if Sat were a typical day that would have put me at around a 34. Of course that's only speculation I did NOT have a good weekend at Belle Chasse! In addition- the timer either works or doesn't and is due to power, times are always asscurate. Don't kid yourself. In any event, thanks for showing up, have a safe trip back to Jersey and maybe see ya next year. Also, you're not very friendly like most other RX8 drivers ~shrug~

I'm checking into having access "cut" out. We'll see.
Check http://www.delta-scca.org for pics. It sometimes takes a while bc Benson takes so many, etc. But there should be some good shots.

I'm obviously joking about the timer, i'm still very impressed if Darren ran a 33 in the S4 if that did happen, i didn't think i left much more than .5sec out there. As for my level of niceness, I'm a firm believer in ImOnlyaNiceGuyifYouLikeMeTheism, just chalk it up to the northeast and well call it a day, i'm plenty nice to Joe

Just for the record I am nice to everyone. But I was nicer to your girl friend because she had a great attitude and really wanted to try to do better.
all this bashing is for the birds. To bad you left early Mark we could have lined up the 3 cars and got great photo. I would have also liked to have done a drag to the end to see where each of the cars stack up.
