Question Im moving to Austin and could use some help

A few months ago i had posted a thread asking a few questions about the area and it looks like i am definitely moving down to Austin in January. Just as an FYI, ill be the guy with the white 8 and black RP-F1 wheels.

So here is my problem. Career builder blows.

I figured i would ask the locals who the good employers are. Unfortunately i am not a programmer or an engineer. I have 3 years experience in an engineering type positions as a project manager and i have spent a total of 4 months in our China facilities overseeing various projects.

I am moving down with my girlfriend who shouldn't have a hard time finding work since shes a pharmacist, but i don't particularly want to mooch off of her.

I cant wait to get down there and begin to meet the Austin crew at gatherings but i figured id throw it out there to try to network a little in advance.

wow that was fast, thanks

PS if anyone would like some audio help i have run a few serious systems in my 8. The first week i have my car i gutted it and did a ground up install of a pioneer avic n1. After that got stolen i did a pretty serious RF 360.2 install.

Twinkie, ill send that to you tonight, its a little suspicious if the work servers see a resume getting sent out

let me know if you need help/advice on areas to live. i know a good realtor if you're looking to buy.

We're looking for business analysts and such, I get a mad referral bonus that I'll share with you lol The market here is insane as far as technology goes, pretty weak everywhere else, minus retail since we're getting tons of stores all over the place around here lol

edit: we may have an opening for a Wintel sysadmin/engineer as well, I can ask if you like

Guys, i have to say the response so fast is really cool.

AQCutie
The engineering type stuff i handle now are tool reviews and processes from a manufacturing standpoint. I actually graduated from a prominent engineering school here in philly with a Business degree. I fell into the position im in now just because im a nerd and i do well with technical things

Canary

Ill drop you a copy of my resume. I was actually looking at analytic positions right out of school a few years ago but fell into this.

Ha, yeah, I'm a nerd too. Okay, well the engineering firm I used to work for handles primarily transportation engineering in the Austin branch but if Canary's thing falls through let me know and I'll see if they branch out into anything else. They may have a few other departments, that's just the one I worked closely with in Dallas. I also know a few other people in Austin if nothing else works out. Good luck!

Heh...I think I covered this before...

90% of all RX-8 owners are nerds or work in nerd related arenas...

Coincidence? I think not...

Darn. That won't be me, because I'm only in college and have no idea what the jobs are like in Austin.

Motorola is now Freescale, they have a huge location down here, there's also Samsung, corporate gigs at Whole Foods Market, Central Market etc. as well as both of those places are exploding right now. Along with the others already mentioned

How are things going? I'm keeping an eye out for you, you'll be hearing from me as soon as I run across anything
