Houston SCCA Autocross on June 1, 2008
Register online now for $25 an event(double enter for 2 events) or you can just show up and register at the event for $30.
You have to have a SCCA membership to race, but you can get a weekend SCCA membership for $15 at the event. The $15 will also go towards payment for a full membership if you choose to get one.
The event is at Gulf Greyhound Park on 6/1/2008. There is a practice day the day before.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,1.279907&z=10
Try to show up at or before 8am.
If you need better directions or more info, just PM me.
If you've never been before it as an experience worth having.
Also there is a practive event the day before for $60. You can only register online at www.DLBracing.com for the practice event.

I just registered online and it was only $45 for both events. Maybe $5 off for double entry?
In other news my car is at the Mazda dealership to get the flash and fix the rattling in my door. They gave me a Mazda 5 for a rental!

Alright, I'm bumping this so some of the guys from the meet will come out.
C'mon guys, real life is better than the arcade!
If I don't have my car back before then I'm autocrossing the mini van.

I'll be there both days with the miata. If you have never been you owe it to your self to come out. If you don't want to drive on Sat.or Sun I am sure some one will take you along on a run.

on Sunday I'll be #97 sts2. I don't mind riders except for the last run. The miata is a blueish green. I will be running in the second group in the am. Honestly this is about as much fun you can have with your cloths on.

Keep an eye out for 1 of the idiots that drive black RX-8's.

If anyone has any questions about autocrossing post in the thread or even send me a PM. At this event you can literally show up (on time of course) and pay there. Cash only if you do it that way.
If you just want to come out and watch I'm sure someone can give you a ride.

if its your first time out race x class, you won't be competitive.
Or you can race STB, but I would try to race in a class that races in the morning, that way if you wish to go again you can double enter.
Worse comes to worse they will sort it out when you get there, so don't worry too much about it.

But, B-Stock races in the afternoon. So if you are new to the sport seat time is the most important thing to worry about. If you're not sure you want to race all day I would register for the morning and if you feel like it go double enter later. You don't have to double enter in advance.
That's my .02 anyway
Unless you have R compounds and lots of skill you will not be competitive.

I can't wait for tomorrow to get here.
If you have not been to Gulf Greyhound before theres a trick to getting in. They do not open the front gates until later, so here's some directions to get in the back way.
The super easy way is to find someone who is racing and follow them. A good clue would be a trailer full of tires.
If that doesn't happen after you turn right on 1764/2004 you should see Gulf Greyhound Park right in front of you. Take a left at the first light, head to the end of the street and make a right. The first entrance on the right is where you want to go. The gate should be open enough to let you slip through. As long as you're not there before 7:30 you should see lines of cars changing their tires ahead of you. Go there and park. If its your first time try to find some other RX-8 guys, I am usually there a little early so if you find me I will walk you through everything else.
Other notes, you can bring water if you want, you can also buy it there for a $1. Bring cash if you haven't paid already. Don't worry too much about lunch because there are several places around to eat at. Also alot of the autocross guys meet up after the event and go to Gringos to eat.

Rally Car Racer
Too bad I can't make it down there from Dallas that day. I'd sure like to see how STU class is down there. Up here it's all STIs, a WRX or two and me.
