Houston bad luck for my 8? and MS front airdam or not?
Well let's see I have been here a week now going to school and since I have been here I have had a truck lose one of it's tires right next to me and hit the side of my baby and leaving a mark from the right front near the fog light to the middle of the door. Now today I walked out to my car from school and noticed the stock airdam was bent/cracked and the engine cover onder the car was bent and pushing everything forward. I talked to a dealer here and it he said it looked like the ppl that changed the oil last may not have put the cover back on correctly and hitting some water this morning may have messed it up. I talked to Premier Mazda where I had my oil changed 2 weeks ago and explained everything to them and they said after they look at it they should be able to pay to have it replaced. My question is this should I go ahead and pay the differrence and get the MS dam put on or leave it with the stock or is put a now front end on it without the dam? I hear there is a problem with 8s all the time with dam issues and value everyone's advice here.
Thanks
Kev
Thanks

There is no Mazdaspeed Air Dam. The MS Front is an entire bumper replacement, the Air Dam is an OEM Option.
Theres a big price difference in the two... if you want the MS One, i say this is a good time to go for it.

At least you got the cover back. I always change my own oil but the one time that I did take it somewhere to get the oil changed, they never put the cover back on. Went back the next day, and it seems everyone there caught a bad case of amesia. If you know what I mean. For all you NJ folks, stay away from the Castrol quick lube in Perth Amboy.

Actually looking at Mazda's website I see there is an upgraded airdam but I can't see that it would be that much different than the stock one other than it comes in the same color as the car. $1500 is really high right now but I think it would be worth it, just have to run it by the wife of course...

On a little different note does the MS front end have the shield under the front as well? Have not had a chance to really look at one up close.
Thanks for the info guys!

what do you mean by shield? It does attach at the bottom lip with "buttons", I've had mine with my AEM on there for quite some time and it has barely gotten dirty nor has anything come up from underneath, it's completely sealed down there. keep in mind also, the front by itself does look a little weird, you'll need something along the sides to keep the lines flowing, just the lip by itself would probably be okay w/o skirts etc. Just something to think about

We are talking about the same thing I am just not sure what else to call it other than wind shield as it was refered to by Mazda. I just did not want to confuse anyone as to what I was talking about. I do agree with you about the just putting the lip on and not having skirts and so on. I know you don't like knock offs so I thought I would just throw this out there for a general view. How do ppl feel about Veil Side???? DON"T HIT ME!!!!!!!!!!

That's not a bad looking one at all Canaryrx8, and Chr1s I was also thinking about the GT version from VS, don't like the bodywork, hood or the back end of the V1. I think also from reading thier website they say the rear lip melts with some exhaust and since I run SP2's then I would more than likely run into that problem... I sent a question to the sales department email asking them if the GT version has had any problems with that but no answer yet.

I'd be hesitant on the back piece, those tips are huge and will probably melt just about any aftermarket piece out there unless you rig it with some stainless to shield it or something
