Hey all... I just found this site a few days ago and after reading alot of these postings, I just have to ask... where are all the El Paso and west Texas owners?

OK, to be totally honest, I have only seen 4 RX8's (other than my own) in the El Paso area. Would be nice if any of them are actually here though. If anyone is interested, mine is the red on the west side.

 

The "8" is a rare bird down there when I was visiting in November/December of last year, didn't see a single one during my stay. I had one of those mondo steaks on some ranch going east on 10 like 20 minutes or so from the city. A lot of those El Paso roads seemed to have gravel and such, maybe a bra or rock-guard would be a good investment for you...

 

Hmmm, I dont know about gravel... it's usually dust and sand storms we have to worry about here. I'm not upset that there arent more 8's running around here, I'm actually kinda glad. Makes me feel special to have such a rare toy.

I actually had a security guard at the Fort Bliss gate ask me if it was a Viper. Yeh, I call it mini-me. I just laughed and drove on.

 

Hey Synister, I am in "Sunny El Paso, TX." I am one of two (the other didn't wave back!) lightning yellow on the west side. You are right, there are not very many 8s out here, and the ones I see don't wave back when I wave

 

OK, had my 8 for over a year now (purchased last August) and finally found my way here. Good to see a few other El Paso owners here. I am also on the west side (Kings Point). Velocity Red with a handfull of upgrades. Mazdaspeed body kit, fender strakes, chrome gas cover. A friend of mine at work is an RX7 owner and pointed out SRMotorsports as being a great company for rotary engine aftermarket upgrades. I already purchased and installed the pulleys, intake, midpipe and exhaust (very happy with the results).

Well, my name is John and try to wave at my fellow 8 owners. Same as you guys, I usually get no results. I haven't seen any Yellows or Reds (other than my own) yet in El Paso, but will start looking now. My biggest gripe with some of the 8 owners here is the lack of respect they seem to have for their cars (every 8 I see seems to be filthy). I'm going to post some pictures of my baby in the near future, so keep an eye out for me along I-10.

I used to live in El Paso. I moved to Dallas this pasted June. I will be visiting El Paso for the holidays in DEC. It would be nice to meet you all.

hi guys, i just got an '05 pearl white rx8 and im lovin it. i got it at borman in las cruces cause mack massey's rx8s are all beatup (the 04's) and they wanted to charge me the price of an 05 for an 04, bleeeh. im really happy with it, ill honk if i see you guys around =)

 

Nice, I'll keep my eye out. All of us posting on this thread so far seem to live on the west side, where you located? I've met Synistyr and cel1122 so far (real nice people), and hoping more 8 owners from the area get to this board.

stuck in El Paso...If anyone saw a tan SUV on the I-10W shoulder over Gateway West and General Lee - that was me. 2002 Santa Fe, and the auto-trans crapped the bed in the middle of the freeway. We're supposed to be in Nevada tonight, so that timeline is busted. We're waiting for the dealership to determine how it will take to fix. If it won't be back on the road this afternoon, then we'll rent a car and resume our trip. Now I'm kinda wishing we had taken the RX-8 - a tight squeeze for 4 people, 2 dogs, luggage, and Chrstmas presents, but at least we would have gotten there. Did I mention that I hate auto trannies? What a week.

Does anyone happen to know if the Hyundai dealership has a co-located rental agent, and if so which company?

i havent seen any turbo 8s in el paso, but is anyone looking into getting theirs turbo charged? im considering it in the future.. in maybe a year, i'd probably take it out of the city for that tho

My 8 is a nordic green. I live in the NE and work on Ft Bliss. I had found this forum once in the past but hadn't really got into the boards until recently.

I have been waving at fellow 8 owners, few wave back.

If you happen to see me on Bliss feel free to say hi, I will too.

I almost forgot to ask... do we fall in with the rest of TX here on the boards or with NM. Just wondering what everyone else thinks on that.

Not trying to get of being a Texan, in fact it seems that El Paso is almost like a step child compared to the rest of Texas. I am stationed there at Ft Bliss and I am actually not from Texas but I wouldn't mind it if El Paso was lush and green like the rest of the state.
