"Car club sessions (minimum of 12 cars) will be held from 5-7 p.m. Car Clubs must call (817) 215-8421 to reserve their session. Beginning at 7 p.m. the event will be open to the public and no reservations are required."

- lets support the RX-8 club, who's interested?

Well this comment will reveal my heartlessness, but 30 bucks for 3 laps is a joke, even if its for charity. Id rather blow my money at the go cart place we went to last time. getting only 3 rides there for 20 bucks and waiting in line for them was still way more fun that 3 laps for 30 bucks.

I'm interested, it says that speed is controlled by a pace car. I wonder what the max speed is going to be, anyone know?

TX08RX8 was telling me as long as you do not pass the pace car you should be ok, so lets say if we get enough people to do a group we could let the pace care get a big lead and then gun it!?

I've got a friend that did this a few months ago... he said they only got up to like 100mph max. He took videos of it and it seemed fairly boring....

I did this last year in my Convertible. The speed is limited to about 80 but if you play the corners right you can hit 100. You CANNOT pass any other car on the track or they will escort you out of there. The deal is get 12 to go and you do not get stuck with Buicks and Soccer Mom Vans.

I guess boring is in the eye of the beholder, you are cruising around a major racing venue you are banked curves and it is a great experience. I would assume if your day job was driving a Nascar car or a Dragster as opposed to and RX8 on 635 to drive a desk for 8 hours it would be boring. It is what you make of it.

Bottom line it is not about seeing if you are Tony Stewart or Little E, it is about doing something that is fun and helping out kids as the same time.

IMHO - YMMV

Haha but it is legal! you will be able to go 100mph, so it will still be fun, plus it is all of us getting together and doing something, so its not like it is just you doing it. Maybe we can do BBQ at my place afterwards or something.......

Come on Thomas! you know you want to be a Rockstar!! haha

'I'm the biggest rockstar they've seen thus far' Haha...I bet no one knows what song I took that from...oh well

I'm SO there, if we can get enough 8's I'll drag Matt (docmombo) with his 8...if not, let's make it a Mazda group and I'll drag Claire with her 6 as well.

On a side note, THOMAS, geez, how are you even gonna compare the TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY to any other road? What? And how spoiled are you guys to say that driving on it (three laps or not) seems fairly boring??

I have never and probably will never again get the chance to even WALK on the speedway, I'm there! One lap, three laps, $30, $100, WHATEVER! My 8 deserves it for all she does for me...it's the least I can do!

See you all there...keep me posted

AgCutie - Actually they do this twice per year so you will have another chance, BUT it is just exactly what you describe - it is a blast for all us mere mortals who don't fly F-16's; Dragsters or Skydive

I didn't mean to call it boring.. per say. But I don't imagine that it really compares to driving a road course... at speed. I'm sure if you make an event out of it then it will be plenty of fun.

I just called and got some info... 14-16 cars on the track at one time, the speed is governed by a pace car that is supposed to run 80mph average and they said "it could go faster depending on how the cars in your group act" so probably if you're making the turns right hitting the marks they let you go faster and if you act like a tard they slow up, the VIP is $250 includes an additional 2 laps your picture in victory lane a t-shirt and dinner for 2 at the speedway club at the racetrack that night. Reservations required for VIP only. One thing I forgot to ask them is if it's $30/car or $30/person?

It is $30.00 per car. Only one person can drive each set as they do not stop when the 3 laps start. If you have two people who want to drive you buy two sets at $30.00 each
