Technically, you're both right.

You upgrade your car similar to the way you write code. You start with a working base (car) and then add one piece at a time and make sure it continues to work. That way, when it breaks, you know what part broke it.

However, Mazda has done a lot of this testing already and built the Mazdaspeed parts to work together (suspension parts, not the body kits). The problem is, they want you to use a 100% Mazdaspeed kit, which very few people use. So you need to still do it incrementally to prevent issues.

Why? Do you not know how to do struts as well? I've seen springs done a couple times, I could probably stumble my way through it...

I've seen it done, but that doesn't make me an expert. It's possible. I guess we'll see. Fronts shouldn't be a huge deal. Could be fun.

lol. well I take care of my dad now, he was hurt pretty bad two years ago. If hes feeling good that day, and we really need his advice I will bring him along.

another question though is do we have all the tools necessary. like a shock compressor, spring compressor, impact screw driver, breaker bar, all the sockets, 4 jack stands. I mean is the preparation complete?

I don't have compressors, impact screwdriver or breaker bar. I have two jack stands and a bunch of sockets. Only deeps I have are 19 and 12. I say bring what you can.

Only thing you really need is some right size wrenches and sockets plus a spring compressor. Its not too hard, just make sure to preload...

advanced auto I believe has the coil over spring compressor rental, and autozone has them as well. For all I know napa might even do it. I believe and feel that the person whos cars are being worked on should share the cost of this rental. The last time I did it with my buddy it was a 50 dollar deposit, and 10 dollars a day.

Autozone has a deposit where you get it all back if you return the item i believe, thats where we always get our compressors. As far as the install i have done like 6-7 installs before and im sure we can do it if we try, assuming im there. The longest part is compressing the springs...

I will rent the compressor from Autozone, and I may even see if I can buy an electric impact wrench. I know Joe bought one last time from an O Riley? not sure what he did with it afterward. Probably need to look at getting a set of sockets as well. I have some that I used to work on the gril, but not sure if they will be big enough.

Also I'm just doing the rear struts, nothing else.
