It really is a shame how few of the RX8 owners here never participate in autocross. The RX8 kicks butt and totally dominates the B stock class. I really recommend everyone try it at least once.

Equpe Rapide - we can just walk in, register and have some runs? How many drivers usually show up to one of these? How long does the event usually last?

Not sure if I'm completely free that Sunday, but Bedford is only half an hour away from my place taking 360 and I'd like to have a go maybe. My tires are probably past their legal tread limit though....

I went to the BMW event this past weekend it was a blast, road course style with speeds 100+ on the straight. I might try and make it to ER if I can wake up in time.

Yes - show up, walk right up, fill out the form, pay money and away you go. I recommend you pay the extra $10 to get two more runs. Six runs on one day is pretty good for only $35.

It usually lasts until about 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

There is no legal tread limit that I know of. Some people run "treadless" tires such as the Kumho V710. The only requirements are that the tires must have adequate rubber with no cords (belting) exposed.

Sounds like fun. Maybe next month? You can PM me what the "right price" is.

I was at the LSCBMWCCA event running a Miata but you guys missed a fun one! Like Cosmos said, it was a super fast course. I did run a few fun runs in my stock RX-8 after the competitive runs were done. Good times!

And yes, Cosmos's car is well setup and very fast.

I'm really considering going with a friend of mine, he has an mr2. Do we have to bring our own sticker numbers or whatever, or are they provided?

I'm a total n00b...

Just get some 2in wide painters tape (unless your car is blue) and make your own numbers.

Or go to Michaels/Hobby shop and buy a roll of vinyl magnetic material and then you can use wordart to stencil and cut out numbers. I made 2 pairs for about 20 bucks. You can also paint them to whatever color you like or leave them white.

Ironically, there really are quite a few RX-8s out at local autocrosses... just a lot of those owner don't post here often.

Anyway, I'm at all of the local Equipe Rapide and SCCA events, and try to make it out to the occasional BMW, PCA, or S2000 event as well. I'm located in Murphy (east of Plano), so if any of the NE area peeps are ever interested in following someone out to an event, drop me a PM.
