Houstonites are most definitely welcome. I'll call next week to reserve a few rooms, based on who's expressed interest so far. I'll need to know about 2 wks before for sure whether or not you'll be staying at the hotel.

Dazy, my woman and I are a go. If you're at BJ's next Thursday, I'll get some more specifics from you then.

Awesome Creto!! I won't be at BJ's next week, but feel free to send me a PM until Sunday. I'll be out of commission from March 5-12, but I'll reply as soon as I get back.

Have we decided on a hotel? Last time we stayed at the Omni and it was within walking distance of 6th street (thank God), or I wouldn't have made it back to the hotel. Are we staying there again or is there another place in mind? I'm just hoping for something within walking distance or stumbling distance.

Stumbling distance is more like it... I want to be able to crawl there.

I'm sure we'll come up with something.

I called the Omni yesterday and I'm having some problems with their availability.

Canary - Any other hotel suggestions w/in a 2 block radius of 6th street?

The Omni is pretty much the closest save for the Driskill, there are a bunch along the river though, (Cesar Chavez Street to be more specific) but to walk to 6th street from those is quite a bit further than 2 blocks, there is also the Hilton on 4th street. Here is a Yahoo link:

The rest are going to be a bit futher away so that may be your next best bet?

Walking a few blocks when you're plastered isn't that bad. It's an adventure in remembering directions with short term memory loss! That in itself will be an entire entertaining event.

Or there is a Marriott on 11th. I don't know much about the area in Austin, but I've stayed at an ungodly amount of Marriotts. Here is a link to the hotel information:
http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/AUSDT

And here is a link to the map from the hotel to Coyote Ugly (just picked a bar to find distance)

And according to Travelocity.com the Omni has rooms available. If we get 3 rooms they are $109 per night.

769.14 after taxes for 3 rooms, 2 nights.

I found that the Omni at Southpark has a rate of $109, but the downtown location doesn't even have any available.

I think I'm going to book with the Marriott at $179/night, which if we put 4 people per room, comes to $102.93 for the weekend...

Thoughts??

I know it's $12/day. I'll have to call and see how it's set up.
