Dang! I've been waiting for this trip to come around again... but I'm moving that weekend. I'll start on Thursday and finish around Sunday. Oh well... maybe next time.

I'm out too, unfortunately. Working that weekend. It was going to be my 1st group ride too.

just catching up with this thread and looks like this group trip has really fallen apart. Nothing like the first trip to Austin. Maybe this should be post-poned until after the holidays??? Just my .02

There will always be trips to Austin, whether it be with 3 members or 15. I'd really like to get some of the newer members to join us, but I know it can be tough with work/family/life stuff.

Bar golf is on! Anyone want to predict the winner?

Green jacket? My only golf knowledge is from the movie Happy Gilmore and the jackets were yellow in that movie.

Awesome!! I think we're going to try to have lunch at Oasis again, but I'm not sure what time. We'll probably hit up the twisties afterwards (hopefully by then our headaches would have worn off) and then I don't know. Another round of Bar Golf that night.

Oasis is cool, I'd still also recommend Iguana Grill, it's a little farther down the road but the food is better, might be seasonal though (?) I'm pretty sure Oasis is year round so we should probably plan on that one just to be safe

Not sure the Oasis is fully back to speed since the fire.

The Green Jacket refers to the jacket given to the winner of the Master's Tournament held each year at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA.

It's not quite where it was pre-fire, but it is definitely open for bidness and still attracting a lot of folks, the guy who fixed all the problems with my paint lives out there so the day I had to drop my car off and have homedude buff/wetsand etc. I got to check it out as I drove by. There's plenty of other options besides there, the county line BBQ on bee caves also has a nice view and awesome grub

No, not completely otherwise I'd feel like crap all weekend. I just want to have fun. Maybe we can make it a 5 or 6 hole game instead of 9.

Hey Canary - can you look into the Iguana Grill for me? You say the food is better... is there a view? Does anyone know what the view is like at the Oasis now? Is it worth going?

they have a similar view of the lake as Oasis, only downside I can think of is their parking lot is not as big, they also may be seasonal as are most of the "lakefront" grub places. (which in my opinion is entirely stupid, as Austin has 70-80 degree weather this time of year and it is beyond perfect for eating outside by the water...argh) I haven't actually been inside the Oasis, just driven by, it does appear to have some part of the deck open however. I'll do some legwork and see what I can find out and post it up when I get it figured out.

6 holes is plenty to get really trashed. Last time I played we only made it to the 7th!

Iguana Grill is good. It still has a good view, its just doesn't have the elevation that Oasis does. Food is definitely better though.

I wish I could go but I already have plans that weekend. Maybe next time you guys go to Austin or if I ever have a business trip in big D I'll have to drop in a say hello.
