AR Cat and exhaust questions.... Help guys!

Do you guys have cats?

I am looking to go no cat and just a straight pipe from header all the way down to my mazdaspeed exhaust.

Does your car perform well with no cat?

Thanks fellas!

Yes, but I'm running my cat right now, cuz I didn't like how loud my middy was. Looking for a quieter one. But there's the CEL and gas smell when you're stopped, and you won't pass inspection with it.

Say what??

You'll probably get a small amount of power, but it won't make it a monster or anything. And you may get some flames, too.

Presuming you're going from stock cat to straight pipe, you will prolly get ~10-20hp potentially (presuming 3" pipe). As others said, it'll smell like a gas spill behind your car, and you can melt your shrouds with flames, so up to you if you *really* want flames. And, of course, there's the ever present CEL that will be on, and it will be much louder.

not to flame or anything...but this seems like a very childish statement...Something i would expect from a 16y/o who just got his liscence and has no clue of the consequences.......Like getting pulled over for sound violations, and not being able to speed because each time u press the gas they can hear you from a mile away. ....just a thought.....

I recommend a high flow cat.
Get a straight mid pipe and weld in a Davesport cat.
Plenty loud without all the stink and you'll still get some power gain.

This topic has been discussed to death. Do a little research. There are many members running racing pipes, high-flow cats, etc.
