Austin = RX8 city ??

Hi y'all..

I just moved here from CA and to my surprise, there are waaaay too many 8's on the road here! I love my car and one of things I liked in CA (Bay Area) was the uniqueness of my Winning Blue...

I will see 2 or 3 at most per week!

Now I live here... and to start of, the building I work in had already 5 RX8 parked outside!! If this wasn't enough somebody just got another one last week..a Shinka "burgundy"?

I drive and they are all over!! Needless to say my car is not as unique as it used to be... lol

Everyday I see 2 or 3, whites, yellows, reds, even 2 NICE WB live in the subdivision I live... then a neighbor moved in and guess what he had... a silver modded RX8!!

What gives? and I thought this weather was waaay too hot and humid for a rotary and this will indeed continue being unique here.. but boy.. was I wrong...

I was told... "you'll see more mustangs thane ever in TX".... well not really when I see so many RX8 on the road...

On the other hand, I barely see RX7s even 3rd generation RX7s while you see them all the time back in CA...

Oh well I guess I just have to "live" with this... ...

I see RX-8's all over the place here. It's why I don't understand how people can complain that it isn't selling well. It is here.

yeah -- im in D/FW texas and see them occasionally. Saw a grey one at a light going under a bridge on Western Center and 35W(N).

On my trip home this weekend I saw two going the opposite way as me. I've always wanted to catch an RX8 on I-45 travelling the same direction as me and have all that wide open space to "play"

I NEVER see yellows and the other8s I do see never wave back, but oh well. Should have come out Saturday to the Rudy's on 183/Duval, we had 8 vehicles (7s and 8s, and rotary powered older corolla showed up and I spoke to a guy with a rotary powered Opel GT!) at the show and got the club participation award. I got my car back today, so if you see a slammed yellow with chrome wheels/Mazdaspeed/thumping stereo that's me

Funny on my way back home last night, I stopped at a light and there they were... 1 white next to me and a blue one behind me, just like mine!!

I then decided to wave and see if these guys were cool..... NOTHING !!! 2 guys thinking they were walking on eggs with their egos the size of a Hummer!! I call this BS...

My car has all the MS goodies(spring/shocks, swaybars, strutbars, flywheel) except for the body panels.... and yes it's unique, it hugs curves and twisties like no other... lol lol

I will join the next RX meeting.

I've seen a quite a few in the 3 days I've been up here. I'm actually parked across from one in the parking garage at work (White Pearl).

If you see a BB one with gold Volks thumping around the Northside of Austin, that'd be me!

Try living in the sports car capital of the world... I see more RX8's in a week than Id ever care to tally up. You know what though? I have only seen ONE other 8 with a body kit, and thats Alex Cisnero's MB silver. Although the 8 isnt very "unique" in a place like Miami, my 8 is one of a kind around here, making it turn more heads than a porsche ever would.
Like Slims8 said, If you feel like your getting lost in the crowd, make your car stand out again by doing your own thing to it.
GL, and happy modding!

awesome, right now mine is the only 8 in the club with any kind of bodykit, save for a few with appearance package goodies, having another MS around would be nice

If you see me in my Red and wave, I'll wave back. :-)

I split my drive time in her with my truck. Days I have to stop at the ranch on the way home I take the truck. Something about the RX8 intermingled with Aberdeen Angus doesn't quite work.

Wave, honk, or flash me in Houston and I guarantee you'll get a reply.

I hate it when I greet fellow RXers and don't get any response.

TiGray stock with black front mask "Houston means that I've just come off a 400 mile road trip to you." (with apologies to the Gatlin Brothers).

I agree I have waves at several 8's and even flashed my lights a couple times and get nothing most of the time. I did rev the engine for a TG in Dallas on my way to Zoom Zoom live this weekend and got a wave. I live in Round Rock and have seen a few 8s here as well.

Explains what? And, I'm not sure of your definition of a "hick". If you mean because I own a $25K truck purely for reasons of tending cattle on a large chunk of valuable property so that asshats like yourself have food, then hick I am. Come down to Texas sometime and we'll give you a tour of hickville. You'll only need a one-way ticket.

Nice I've finally found an austin thread. I'm new to the forum and have been poking around. Please let me know when the next meet is. I deffinately see quite a few 8's around here in south austin but I'm rockin that winning blue and I don't see other blue's very often. If you see a blue with limo tint and music bumpin it's me. Hope to get some black 19's soon so there will be no question. BTW has anyone replaced their CaT themselves yet??? Looking for someone around town with some experience.
