FRACKING MODS. We all fricking know each other in PERSON. I swear we are going to have to use thetexas forums just to talk to each other. No one asked for this thread to be moderated. Mind your fricking business.

I've managed to save all of the deleted posts using my back button. If you want to see them, I post them on my blog.

Not attacking...just think it's funny that only the topics that are "DFW Inside Jokes" are the ones that get people's feathers ruffled.
My apologies for "talking politics" on the board...but I don't see how friends talking on a forum is any worse than this. I understand the point of it which is to keep people from flaming each other, but this was a conversation between two people and neither of us were offended. It's like we were calling each other idiots or something immature like that (which happens on every other thread).
I'm all for moderation...but let's be honest, there's a lot more stuff that should be moderated than the those of us in DFW having fun.
I think it's about time we went the way of Indy and Houston and just setup our own board...

Nope...he was upset that his posts (and mine and Rowlett's) were deleted and in typical fashion, made a comment about the mod. That's what got him banned, not the original posts.
I'll probably be emailing the admins (per their rules here) because this is the first time I've seen a thread post deleted...yet so much other stuff flies...

To the Mods
Oh man have I been waiting all day to make this post.
Where to start, where to start....
First, let's break down the post that got me banned:
"FRACKING MODS" <- In all modern convections of the English this is NOT an attack ON the mods. So if it's not an attack what is it saying? It says that I'm pissed off that you deleted all of the hard work I put into my posts, without warning. Did I call you names? Did I threaten you? Did I threaten people you know? It would be one thing if I had done so, but as can be clearly seen by EVERYONE on these boards this was NOT an attack.
"We all fricking know each other in PERSON." True statement. Not an attack
"I swear we are going to have to use thetexas forums just to talk to each other." Not an attack
" No one asked for this thread to be moderated." True statement, and again also not attack
"Mind your fricking business." Again not an attack, telling someone to "shove off" is not attack, in fact it's the exact opposite, in doing so this moves the two parties away from each BEFORE there is a need to resort to attacks.
Second, let's talk about the posts that you moderated.
Yes, there is a rule on the forums for not discussing politics. This is not in dispute. What is the issue here is that A. you did not warn any of us before deleting our discussions, and B. that you moderated the posts at all. But wait Thomas, rules exist for a reason, and they must be applied without prejudice. Yes, rules do exist for a reason; they generally prevent the world from going into chaos. However, not all rules are enforced to the same degree as others. Cops on the street have discretion. Does it make since to stop jaywalkers 100% of the time; does it make since to pull someone over for going 1 mph over the speed limit? In both cases the answer is no. And we frequently see cops not enforce rules that are even stricter than these. In any case, many cops use what we call WARNINGS as a way to deter people from breaking the rules. This says hey if you didn't know this rule existed I'm letting you know so you can get your act cleaned up, but again you didn't use this tool.
So why am I writing a long post about all of this? Because you, as a mod, are ABUSING your powers, and this is what has me ANGRY. The founding fathers understood all too well that power corrupts ALL people. It's a fact of human nature. This is why they made sure to put in protections such as guaranteed rights to freedom of speech. They understood that if someone was given ANY power to regulate speech that it would be abused. The problem is that if you are going to regulate speech you have to determine what is and is not acceptable. When you decide on that line you effectively decided that ALL speech can be regulated. It's simple, if there is any line at all people can BEND that line to suit their wants/desires/ motivations. AN example of this is the Patriot Act allowing the government to tap any line they want without a warrant. See the problem with the "reasonable expectation to privacy clause" that requires the cops to get a warrant is that over time this protection erodes. Did you have a reasonable expectation to privacy on the phone before the Patriot Act? Yup. Do you have it now? Nope. Once you start on that slippery slope there is NO turning back. My point in all of this is to say that you are playing VERY loosely with your interpretation of what it means to ATTACK someone, and thus are wielding your power inappropriately. Apparently you're ok with bending the rules ONLY when it suits you, but that's ok, cuse after all you are the one in control.
So I'm asking you, since you have all the power, where do you draw the line? The rule is, No political discussion on this forum. OK, so what classifies as a political discussion? Does that mean we can't mention factual events that have happened in this country? We went to war with Iraq. Or does it mean that we can't talk about the reasons we did so?(please see post number 32 of this thread https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ht=Iraq&page=2) Does it mean that we can't talk about things that are locally screwed up? The roads in DFW are trash because politicians aren't dedicating enough time/ resources to fix the issue! Or can we only say that the roads suck? (see post 138 https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...t=roads&page=6) And why ONLY political speech? Do people get any less bitchy on these boards when discussing other topics such as what oil to use, if premix is necessary, is the PS3 better than the 360 (https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...olitics&page=4), etc, etc, etc. I can call someone an idiot for ANY number of reasons, but its only banned if he's a democrat/republican idiot? Seriously? You guys say you are trying to prevent flame fests, but they happen EVERY DAY here without any action from you.
Oh and if you want to call me out for not sending this "through proper channels", please do, cuse my response is going to be that it's pretty hard to send crap to you guys when your email address to address these issues DOESN'T WORK.
