{Austin} - Need info on Rudys BBQ 183n.

Hello,

I will be moving to Austin in April from San Diego, I have not yet joined Texasrexs but I will be in town on the weekend of the Christi meet on the 13th and 14th. I would really like to come and meet everyone in the club and see all of your cars. Will some kind soul please confirm the Rudys 183n. meeting area is located at:

11570 Research Blvd.
Austin, TX 78759

I'm sorry to sound dumb, and I'm sure this won't be the last time but I would be very grateful if someone could help me out please.

Thank you
Adrian Moor

Yep, that's the place. Take the Duval exit on 183 (Research) and loop around if necessary so you're on the southbound access road. Rudy's is just past the Outback and Carrabbas - you can't miss it.

Just an fyi about Austin roads ....

Research is 183 (Research is the old road, 183 is the elevated highway thats over it)

Mopac is "Loop 1" (called by both names. and it doesn't loop )

Capitol of Texas Highway is "360"

Bee Caves is F.M. 2244

Keonig is also F.M. 2222 for quite a distance

Ben White Blvd is also 71 for a decent distance

the list goes on, but that should get you started for most things

183 is also Ed Bluestein and Anderson Ln.

2222 changes into 290. It's also northland drive and allandale road for awhile too I believe (although I've never really heard these commonly used)

IH35 is also 290 for awhile.

Ben White is 71 and 290.

360 is also a "loop", and its a little closer than loop 1, but its still only a half circle.

did I miss anything? :D

This is going to take some getting used to. I thought california had some confusing roads but holy crap, I love the name changes . I hope to see some of you at the Christi meet, I think it will make for some pretty good times. I was in San Antonio for a week last time I was in texas about 3 months ago, but I did fly into Austin and drive through the hill country and through San Marcos. The land out there is very beautiful and the roads looked like they were cool, I won't know from experience because I was the passenger in my chicks' Nissan Frontier. I did see a red FD in the incoming lane with some wide tires and that gave me alot of hope for the future of driving the roads myself. I own a turbo FC, but I really like the Rx-8s.

I'll show up if I can make it, but ....

I don't have an RX8 or an RX7. Been looking into getting a used FD or maybe a new RX8. Still haven't pulled the trigger though. Both are great cars (minus the mpg of course, but thats known).

I'd love to check out some of the austin 7s and 8s. We got a new Silver8 owner here at work.

You don't NEED to have an Rx to go to the meet, I will be driving around with my girlfriend in her truck, so I should stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm not expecting to know anyone there because I am not a member yet. I have been posting around on different rx forums about the austin club.

Yes they are! And they do welcome us. They permit us to put out traffic cones to reserve spaces for rotaries.

Come on out and see!
